Pink Floyd’s Nick Mason sends pair of classic cars to auction

Morgan and Jaguar have formed part of the drummer’s ‘Ten Tenths’ collection.
Nick Mason, drummer from rock band Pink Floyd, has sent two of his classic cars to auction.
Mason has taken two cars from his ‘Ten Tenths Collection’, and they’ll now form part of the Iconic Auctioneers event taking place at the NEC Classic Motor Show on Saturday, November 14.
The first is a 1928 Morgan Supersport 8-valve Anzani, which has formed part of Mason’s collection since 2014. However, its history stretches far beyond this ownership, with the car having been supplied new in Australia, where it competed at Penrith Speedway near Sydney by 1929 where it secured several victories. In the late 1980s, it was equipped with a specially developed 1,320cc Anzani engine.

Today, the three-wheeler is no longer fitted with a supercharger, but will be sold alongside a selection of spare and period parts. Its documentation also includes many photographs, letters and research documents detailing its racing history. It’s accompanied by an estimate of between £35,000 and £40,000.
The second car is a 1973 Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 Roadster, which was acquired by Mason in 2007. It’s finished in a full Signal Red exterior paint with a black leather interior and has covered just 24,000 miles since new. It has had only three registered keepers, too.

The E-Type has, according to Iconic Auctioneers, been ‘regularly driven and enjoyed’ during its time in Mason’s ownership and has been used in a regularity rally in Spain. Accompanied by an estimate of between £60,000 and £70,000, the E-Type has undergone recent attention to the cooling system.
As mentioned, both cars will be going under the hammer at the Iconic Auctioneers sale at the NEC Classic Motor Show on Saturday, November 14.
