Maserati has unveiled the first images of its restyled Ghibli GranLusso ahead of the saloon’s full reveal at the Chengdu motor show in China tomorrow.

Featuring a new front bumper with chrome highlights and a new grille, it’s an understated update of the Ghibli’s looks.

Maserati claims that these changes contribute to an improvement in the car’s overall aerodynamic efficiency.

The GranLusso name identifies the updated model, and designation badges can be found at the base of the side skirts.

It also features adaptive full LED headlights with ‘glare-free matrix high-beam’ for better night-time illumination.

The new Ghibli also comes with a variety of semi-autonomous functions, making it safer on the road than ever before.

The car’s rear bumper has been redesigned and fitted with a body-coloured diffuser, giving the saloon a sportier look.

The Italian car manufacturer hasn’t yet revealed if there are any changes to the car’s drivetrain, though it’s likely to use the same selection available on the current Ghibli. That means a choice between a V6 petrol in one of two states of tune, or a V6 diesel.

Power will be sent to the rear wheels via an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox.

Maserati has yet to confirm a UK release date for the Ghibli GranLusso, though it’s likely to be before the end of the year.
