Released on independent record label Strawberry Moon Records, it will be available on all major music platforms such as iTunes and Spotify from April 12.

The Punk Poet is a five-track “catalogue of my art”, according to 25-year-old Ryan, with “vintage sounds, technicolour hues and a retro vibrance”.

The title track has already preceded the EP and has been available since March 15 to give fans a taste of what’s to come.

“Writing and composing music takes me to a different world,” he said. “It fascinates me how sometimes it can take three minutes or three years. But when it all falls into place it’s the best feeling ever and in most cases ideas spring to mind on the back of the bus.

“I’ve recorded this collection of songs with my good friend and producer Ryan Pinson at RML Studios,” he adds of the Newhampton Arts Centre-based studio. “The idea was to capture an old-skool vibe while adding a modern twist and get a solid body of work together.

“With this collection of songs I wanted to bring back the sound of the old 70s glam and soul records while adding a modern edge to the production, paying homage to bands like T. Rex and local legends Slade.”

Evans is also the frontman of rock’n’roll band The Clocktower. After a short hiatus the band have recently made a return and played a sell-out show at the city’s latest up-and-coming venue The Hummingbird.

He has also been playing solo shows up and down the country, touring a repertoire that includes Amongst The Masses, Eco-Electrify and Face Of The Party.

Physical copies will also be available of the EP and will be stocked in the Strawberry Moon Records Store on Bridgnorth Road in Wolverhampton.

A spokesperson for the label said: “Strawberry Moon Records look forward to releasing the multi-faceted musical journey and feel that it truly boasts Ryan’s diverse talents.

“Packed with velvet-smooth vocals and classic beats it makes for a unique, unforgettable release which is set to light the skies over Ryan’s future.”

And fans can catch all the new material live when Ryan plays his home city’s The Slade Rooms on May 18 in support of Ian Prowse & Amsterdam.

Tickets for that show can be bought here.
