16 totally bostin' pictures from the Bostin' Black Country Bash at Walsall Arboretum
A bostin' time was enjoyed by all at the Bostin’ Black Country Bash held at Walsall Arboretum as part of an international celebration.

There live music on the stage all day at the free family event put on to mark the 20th anniversary of the UNESCO Global Geopark network which is a joint partnership between Dudley, Walsall, Sandwell and Wolverhampton Councils.
The Black Country comprising the four boroughs is recognised as one of the network's prestigious members. The recognition highlights the region’s geological significance in shaping the Industrial Revolution and its enduring impact on the world.


Headline act at the event on Saturday is King Pleasure & The Biscuit Boys with other bands including Kiani, Punk Ukelele from Not Quite Dead Yet and the compere is DJ Dicky Dodd.

Attractions included Bhangra dancing with Gabhru Panjab De, a fossil display, food stalls, bars, children’s rides and traders from the boroughs.

Among the most popular displays was a fossilised spider which was discovered in Coseley near Wolverhampton.


Becky Grundy, from Coapool, in Walsall, says: "I'm having an absolutely bostin' day. To be honest, everything you need for a good day out is all here and it's good fun."



Walsall's health and wellbeing boss Councillor Gary Flint says: “ We’re thrilled to host this event in Walsall and welcome thousands of residents and visitors to experience the spirit and pride of the Black Country.“



The Black Country became a UNESCO Global Geopark on July 10, 2020 in recognition of the international importance of its natural and cultural heritage meaning the region is on a par with UNESCO Global Geoparks in Brazil, Canada, Iceland and Tanzania.



The region played a major role in the creation of the modern world. It was here that the Industrial Revolution was at its most intense.
Graham Worton, Keeper of Geology at Dudley Council & Black Country UNESCO Global Geopark Coordinator adds: “This is a great event which celebrates the many geological, cultural and historical wonders of the Black Country. A perfect way to celebrate 20 years of the UNESCO Global Geopark network.“
The award winning Walsall Arboretum attracts over a million visitors a year for bonfire and fireworks, funfairs, fun runs and sports. The Saturday parkrun attracts hundreds of people every week.
It is among 11 green spaces in Walsall to receive the prestigious Green Flag award for high upkeep standards.
