1,000 Walsall businesses receive five-star food hygiene ratings - including Champy's Bradford Arms and Royal Oak Indian

Walsall Council shared that they have reached a milestone, as 1,000 local food businesses have been given a five-star rating.

Out of 1,720 rated establishments across the borough, 1,000 have achieved a rating of 5 - Very Good.

The council said this demonstrates high standards of food safety, cleanliness and management.

The Food Hygiene Rating Scheme inspection assesses risk to public health and is split into three key areas: food hygiene practices, the structure and cleanliness of the premises, and food safety management systems.

"Reaching 1,000 five-star food hygiene ratings is a fantastic achievement for Walsall and reflects the hard work and commitment of our local businesses," said Councillor Adam Hicken, Portfolio Holder for Enforcement and Safe Communities at Walsall Council.

He continued: “A 5-star rating is not awarded lightly. It demonstrates consistent high standards, strong management and a clear focus on protecting customers. We want to recognise and congratulate every one of the 1,000 businesses that have achieved this milestone. Their commitment to food safety helps to protect public health and maintain confidence in Walsall’s thriving food sector.”
