Wetherspoons will be partnering with a student union run bar named Joe’s Bar, located within the University of Birmingham.

The pub is set to open in Easter 2026, with a brand-new menu and will create new job opportunities that could be ideal for students.

However, existing staff will remain employed and the pub will still be managed by the Guild of Students.

John Hutson, Wetherspoons’ chief executive said: “We are delighted to have entered into the partnership with the Guild of Students and look forward to working with it to make Joe’s Bar a great success”.

The announcement of the new pub in Birmingham marks the eighth new location from Wetherspoons, all of which will be opening in 2026, according to reports.

Wetherspoons recently announced plans to open more pubs across Britain in the likes of Bristol, Croydon, Stockton-on-Tees, Beaconsfield and Wetherby.

A spokesperson for Wetherspoons told The Sun: “Wetherspoon is opening new pubs across the UK and continues to seek further sites. Inspired by local history, each pub has its own design, character and personality.”
