'I'm a sleep consultant from Brierley Hill and I offer solutions to help tired parents and children'
Ami Rock understands the importance of a good night’s sleep. Inspired by her own experiences as a mother of four, she helps parents, babies and children get the rest they need.
Ami, who lives in Brierley Hill, has been working as a sleep consultant for more than 18 months.
“I became a sleep consultant to help parents escape the grips of sleep deprivation.
“Becoming a parent is ‘the’ most beautiful gift but when you are trying to function on four hours of broken sleep it can begin to have huge implications on your physical and mental health.
“I am a mother of four children, my youngest are four-year-old twins; so believe me when I say I have had many sleepless nights, and I know first hand how difficult they can be.
“There is a general view that it is ‘normal’ for parents to get no sleep and we should just ‘accept and expect’ this to be the case – I want to change this perception and show families that babies can sleep well and sleep deprivation isn’t the norm,” explains the 39-year-old.
Ami, who runs her own business, Under the Stars Sleep Consultant, completed a training course through the Sleep Consultant Academy; where she learned all about the science of baby sleep, newborn sleep, toddler sleep, common challenges associated with sleep and proven effective methods to overcome these challenges.
“I am also currently completing additional specialised training to help support families with autistic children who are experiencing difficulties with their child’s sleep,” she explains.
