The pair took time out of their rehearsals to visit the Castle Hill attraction to meet Santa and his reindeer and elves.
Andrea Hales, Dudley Zoological Garden's marketing manager, said: "Santa’s elves have been busy over the last few weeks transforming the inside of the 11th century Dudley Castle into our Winter Wonderland grotto and we were delighted to have Su and Jeffrey visit to officially cut the ribbon and launch Christmas time at the zoo.
“Jeffrey was telling us how he visited the zoo growing up and Su was really interested in hearing about the zoo’s work and the history of the castle and we are all looking forward to seeing them both in the show."
Dudley Zoo's Winter Wonderland grotto is open every day until Christmas Eve. All tickets, which must be booked in advance, include a visit to Santa in his castle grotto and zoo admission.
Tickets can be booked by calling 01384 215306 or by visiting www.dudleyzoo.org.uk.
In Dick Whittington, Su will play the evil Queen Rat and Walsall-born Jeffrey will play Alderman Fitzwarren. They will be joined by the Grand's much-loved panto Dame, Ian Adams – who will be back for the fourth year in a row – former Neighbours and Coronation Street actor Ryan Thomas and comedian Aaron James.
Dick Whittington runs at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre between December 7 and January 12. Tickets can be booked by calling the box office on 01902 429212.
