'We are a product of the melting pot': Icons including UB40 honoured on Birmingham Airport wall
Local Birmingham heroes visited Birmingham Airport to see the new Icons Wall which celebrates the city's famous faces and unique culture.
From chef Glynn Purnell to band UB40, Birmingham has given the world plenty of stars, and today (Wednesday, March 25) the stars were in attendance at an unveiling of Birmingham Airport's new Icons Wall.
The colourful display is situated airside, after security, and pays homage to sports, arts and culture heritage and talent from the West Midlands.
The wall features a range of celebrities with a deep connection to the Birmingham area, including Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, Comedian Jasper Carrott, Poet Benjamin Zephaniah, Purnell, Reggae-band UB40 and many more.
At the unveiling of the event, Birmingham Airport terminal operations director Al Titterington shared how the new mural pays homage to the city's local communities.
