Liam Gallagher confirms appearance at Peaky Blinders Festival in Birmingham

By order of the Peaky Blinders! Liam Gallagher has confirmed he will be at The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival in Birmingham this weekend.

Rumours have been circulating for weeks that the Oasis star would be the 'very special secret guest' performer at Saturday's event in Digbeth.

And Liam seems to have confirmed the rumours himself, replying to an Instagram post by the Peaky Blinders' official account about the festival event – saying "Looking forward to seeing you on Saturday LG x".

Liam previously sparked speculation about playing a part in the BBC hit gangster drama, which is partly-filmed at the Black Country Museum. Talking to fans on Twitter, the rocker hinted that he was meeting with Peaky Blinders show bosses.

In replying to a fan about his plans for the day, he tweeted: "Thought you'd never ask. Yeah, I'm off to meet a man about a part in Peaky Blinders. Why me Why not, see ya."

He is said to be a huge fan of Peaky Blinders – and has even struck up a friendship with the show's creator, Steven Knight.

The bumper The Legitimate Peaky Blinders Festival on September 14 and 15, will see everything from live music through to Q&A sessions, street theatre, a catwalk show, beauty boutique and more.

Saturday will see performances from Primal Scream, The Pearl Harts, Hotel Lux, Nadine Shah and the 'very special secret guest'. While Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes and Slaves will take to the stage on Sunday alongside Marthagunn and Birmingham musicians Mike Skinner and JayKae.

Anna Calvi, who created the soundtrack for season five, will appear across both days.

A fan question and answer session will see Paul Anderson who plays Arthur Shelby, Harry Kirton who plays Finn Shelby, Kate Phillips who stars as Linda Shelby, and Packy Lee who plays Johnny Dogs.

While Cillian Murphy, the actor behind the iconic Tommy Shelby, won't be in attendance, he is set to take part via a series of pre-recorded messages.

The event has been co-curate by show creator Steven Knight, who will also be in attendance across the weekend during Q&A sessions to discuss his inspiration, plans and show exclusive snippets and stories behind the tv series.
