The Hollywood megastar was presented with the surprise six-tier sponge – made by Paz Keer of AB Cakes in Wolverhampton – for his 72nd celebration.

The Essington baker, who previously made a cake for Arnold Schwarzenegger, said he was 'amazed' to be chosen for such an important task, which was arranged as part of a fan experience event in Birmingham.

And he admitted he was more than a little starstruck standing next to the Rambo actor on stage in front of thousands of watching eyes.

Paz, aged 37, said: "I'm a massive fan, who isn't? It was amazing. I saw him in the corridor at the event and was like wow. I was acting calm but Sylvester Stallone was standing right in front of me.

"People had come in from Dubai and Amsterdam for this event, and paid up to £1,000 for a ticket. It's amazing to think I'm just from Wolverhampton and I was there."

Paz started the five-tiered vanilla sponge cake on Sunday, July 1 and had it ready just six days later for the event on Saturday, July 7.

He worked until 3am most days, struggling to keep it altogether due to the hot weather.

"I had to keep going back and forward. It was just so hot to work on it," said Paz. "The icing needs to be cool otherwise you leave fingermarks, so I had to keep going back to it."

Paz even handed Sylvester a 13-inch exact replica of the knife from Rambo 3, to cut the cake with.

He added: "He turned from Rocky to Rambo as soon as he held that knife. It was incredible."

And the married father-of-one, to his great surprise, even got a bit of celebrity attention himself on the day.

"The maddest thing was someone even asked me for my autograph," he said. "I'm not used to that. I tried to tell the guy I was nobody but he still wanted it, he said it was all part of the experience."

He hopes Sylvester Stallone won't be the last celebrity he bakes a cake for - as his ultimate dream is to whip up a sponge creation for pop superstar Rihanna.
