Town centre shop to get rebrand in bid to cause less confusion and entice more customers
A shop is getting a rebrand after the owners say they're 'sew' much more than fabrics.
Newport boutique Oh Sew Blue Sky opened its doors to customers in October 2022, after owners Sara-Jane Brettle and Michelle Walsh joined forces.
The pair had owned different businesses, Sara's Village Sew n Sews and Michelle's Pretty Little BlueSky.
But now, they say they believe their chosen collaborative name has caused a little confusion on the high street.
In a post on social media, Michelle wrote: "More and more we see people walk on by the shop or fail to come in because they see the word 'sew' on our sign above the door and think we only sell sewing items and fabrics when in reality we have so much more.
"The focus of Oh Sew BlueSky has always been about home and gifts.
"So as not to cause any more confusion we are going to make a few changes and have a small re-brand."
Later this month and after a little refresh, the shop will reopen under the name BlueSky Home & Gifts.
Michelle added: "As you walk through our door and look to the right-hand side of the shop, you will see all of our home and gift section and collections, Frenchic paint and fabric.
"The left-hand side of the shop will now be occupied by Cher of Graceful Boutique with her stunning rails of ladies' clothing, jewellery, bags and accessories."
The store will close for one week on Friday, July 12 to allow for work to take place, and reopen the following Friday with the new name and look.
From 10am to 4pm on July 19 and 20, customers can come by for the grand re-opening, complete with cake and prosecco.
