Fifty jobs are to be axed at a Black Country lock making firm where hundreds of staff have already been made redundant over the last few months, its owners confirmed today.
Bosses at Willenhall's Assa Abloy said the latest job cuts at its School Street site were part of its ongoing bid to restructure the company to ensure it continued to survive in an increasingly competitive market.
They are seeking voluntary redundancies and refused to confirm what will happen if they do not reach the required number of 50.
The Swedish lock giant, which owns the Yale, Chubb and Union brands, announced earlier this year it was closing its CE Marshall car lock factory in Willenhall at a cost of £14.7 million with the loss of more than 300 jobs.
Last year the firm shut its plant in Wood Street with staff being relocated to the School Street site.
