Speculation in Spain has linked Chinese billionaire Robin Li with a takeover of the club, suggesting he will install Spanish ex-Porto boss Julen Lopetegui in place of Kenny Jackett.

Sources close to the club have rubbished those rumours.

And now Moxey has issued a statement responding to the feverish media speculation, thanking fans for their patience and stating that rumour and speculation 'is simply that'.

Moxey said: "We know there is ongoing public speculation surrounding the potential sale of Wolves to new owners.

"Following the decision to make Wolves available for sale last September there has been a lot of interest from a number of different sources around the world.

"At this time, and as I've said before, whilst there is ongoing dialogue there is nothing we are able to report.

"We'd like to thank all Wolves fans for their support and patience.

"When we have an update we will give it as soon as is practicable but until then any rumour and speculation is simply that."
