Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards' hopes of being in the Wales squad for Euro 2016 have been boosted by the news that Joe Ledley is a doubt for the tournament.

Crystal Palace player Ledley has suffered a fractured fibula and has already been ruled out of the FA Cup final against Manchester United at Wembley on May 21.

Chris Coleman's squad is announced 10 days later and his involvement looks highly unlikely, although he hasn't officially been discounted yet. Edwards has played 31 times for Wales but competition for places is fierce.

He has been named in a 29-man training camp squad to travel to Portugal at the end of the month.

Edwards said ahead of Ledley's injury diagnosis: "I know it's going to be tough to get into the squad.

"I would probably say maybe four or five central midfielders are definitely in like Aaron Ramsey, Joe Ledley, Joe Allen and Andy King. But then you've obviously got me, Emyr Huws and David Vaughan.

"There's a lot of quality there and I just hope I can do enough personally."

Wales face Slovakia, Russia and of course England in Group B in France.

The FAW said of Ledley's injury: "As far as we are concerned he still has a chance of playing in the Euros. Obviously our cut-off point is May 31."

Palace added in a statement: "The club can confirm that midfielder Joe Ledley sustained a leg injury in the game against Stoke City on Saturday, which saw him suffer a fracture of the fibula. He will be continually assessed over the next few weeks by the club's medical staff."
