'I want supporters to be proud and saying and thinking that we have a good side and a good future.' Boss Kenny Jackett knows exactly what he wants.

But the question on every fans' lips is – can he turn Wolves' fortunes around?

A dreadful run of three points in six games has infuriated supporters, many of whom are questioning Jackett's future and most fear the season will peter out from here.

Jackett said: "I'm the person that wants that the least. I'm the person who works as hard and is as passionate about making sure that doesn't happen as anybody.

"I want us to finish this season very strongly and see where that takes us. I want us to put on performances and have a team that make our supporters proud.

"We've had fantastic backing from our supporters, the numbers that went to Huddersfield were considerable.

"There's nobody working harder than me or wants this season to finish off as strong as possible than me."

Jackett has come in for considerable criticism of late, with many unhappy with his team selections.

He said: "You accept the criticism. We've just lost two games by the odd goal, which does show you're close. Being close isn't good enough and it's not an excuse.

"If we can improve by a few areas, and by a few per cent, then we can turn defeats into wins and start building confidence."

Of Wolves' drop in the table, from seventh last season to a current position of 13th, he said: "We would love it to be a continuous, fantastic, upward glide but, in reality, it doesn't work like that.

"We have to make sure if we've stepped back at all, and there's been a deceleration, we arrest that as quickly as we can and then continue the climb and the progression of the club."

Jackett is not yet ruling out Wolves making the play-offs this season but with 13 points to make up he knows that finishing the season strongly and giving hope for next season is a more realistic aim.

He also thought that Nathan Byrne, who many fans have called to be given a starting spot in Jackett's side, had done well off the bench of late.

He did add left midfield was not a natural position for the winger and he has preferred Rajiv van La Parra on the right.

Jackett must also decide whether to recall either Kevin McDonald or Jack Price. Wolves lost 4-0 at Brentford last season, and were beaten 2-0 at Molineux by the London side in the current campaign.

However, they too are struggling for form, and haven't won at home for two months. Jackett said of Dean Smith's underperforming side: "Whoever you are, top or bottom, you always need a result.

"For both sides they're in the middle of the table, generally games with Brentford have been very open, very attacking, very entertaining.

"Obviously, we want to do everything we can to make sure we get the result, as a positive one for Wolves.

"I'm sure the nature of the game will be similar to a lot of very good games we've had with Brentford over the past couple of seasons."
