Wolves boss Kenny Jackett felt his team were unlucky to lose as Nahki Wells' 79th-minute strike earned all three points for Huddersfield.

In a tight game of few clear-cut chances, Wolves only registered one shot on target.

They came close to scoring through Bjorn Sigurdarson and Joe Mason, but couldn't find the clinical touch shown by Wells.

Jackett said: "It's frustrating, I don't think we deserved to lose. We battled, scrapped and worked very hard on a tough day.

"To get no points is unfortunate and unlucky for the players.

"I felt it was a battle, a scrappy game. In the first half probably Huddersfield had more of it although we defended well.

"In the second period I thought we got on top of them and probably, because of the wind and the fact they couldn't get out, we got on top of them physically and had some good breaks.

"But there's a key moment in the game, obviously Wells is a goalscorer, he's put the chance away.

"Even after that we've had two good chances with Mason getting down the right channel, the keeper's come out and smothered him quite well.

"Similarly he's come to the edge of the box and blocked Sigurdarson.

"Results are the bottom line and we didn't get a result today. We've lost a very tight game, we're not happy with that."

Jackett went 4-4-2 with Mason and Sigurdarson up front, and George Saville partnership Conor Coady in midfield.

What did he make of the performance?

"We went to a new shape today, it was the right one for the forward player we've brought in," Jackett added.

"We have to keep working away at it.

"Of course you always want to be winning games. We've lost today and that's the bottom line.

"In the second half I thought we were the more likely to win it.

"But we've won some very close games like that in recent months and unfortunately today that one just went away from us.

"I felt Coady and Saville played very well in midfield.

"They did some good work on and off the ball and hopefully can form a good partnership.

"I felt in the second period we had a lot of the game and a lot of the pressure.

"We pressed them well from the front, set out to press them and got ourselves into good situations.

"We couldn't quite find that final ball.

"Both had chances and opportunities and some promise I think for a partnership.

"There's no magic wand. We did lose and that's the bottom line but the players showed good effort and commitment today.

"We'll work hard. If they show that type of effort and spirit (at Brentford) they'll be on the right lines."
