After a run of five winless games, Wolves' play-off hopes are hanging by a thread.

And, with discontent in the stands, Jackett knows the pressure is on to start producing a winning team.

But the Wolves chief remains convinced he has the players to turn their fortunes around.

He said: "Last season we finished seventh and we're 12th in the league now.

"When you see a deceleration like that - I understand people want to see progress and clubs and sides going forward.

"It doesn't always work that way, though. It isn't always a continuous line upwards, it does tend to go and can come again.

"But in my opinion Wolves are capable of progressing, of continuing to develop and go forward.

"I have every confidence that we can do that. I feel we have a very capable set of players.

"We have a very honest and hard-working group of players who will be doing everything they can to put performances and results on and appreciate the type of support we get because it is considerable."

With owner Steve Morgan having put the club up for sale, fans are concerned the club isn't progressing off the field, or on it.

But Jackett believes promotion is still possible despite the uncertainty in the boardroom.

He said: "I think it is. I think at spells in the season we have shown we're close and then, at other times, we haven't.

"We are mid-table and that's exactly where we are. We have threatened both ends of the table at various times. We have been mid-table and I believe we can close that gap.

"It's a really important 15 games now to make sure we finish off strongly and get the performances and results on the pitch that lift the supporters and drive them on for the summer."
