Nathan Byrne has done 'nothing wrong', Kenny Jackett insists, and believes the out-of-favour winger has a big future at the club.

Many supporters have called for Byrne to be selected of late, with the 23-year-old having played just seven minutes from two late sub appearances in Wolves' six matches in 2016.

"He's been unlucky," Jackett said. "We have Van La Parra and James Henry in the wide areas and generally they've dominated the selection.

"Nathan's done nothing wrong, I've been impressed with him when he's been in. I think he's a young player with a very good future."

Wolves remain without Emiliano Martinez, Kortney Hause and new signing Mike Williamson, with Jackett hoping the trio will all train next week.

He has called for a big improvement from his side after the 2-2 draw with Bolton.

"We need more bite in our performance – we didn't get close enough to Bolton, they had it their own way too much," he added.

"We didn't compete enough, or get enough tackles in. We didn't break up their play enough.

"That's the main thing coming out of Tuesday, we've got to compete better. We can't keep conceding the goals that we have."

Bjorn Sigurdarson continued his Wolves comeback when he started Tuesday's game.

Jackett said of the striker: "It's been a big turnaround for him.

"He's showed a good appetite, he can compete in the air, he has some pace and he has to now keep working towards full fitness.

"We need that 'big striker' role as an option, we need power down the middle, hopefully he can bring it. He'll need encouragement, a little bit of luck, definitely a goal would help. He's quite popular with the supporters and puts a lot of effort in."
