Midfielder David Edwards believes it will be a 'tall order' for Wolves to get into the top six – but after the loss of key players, their position isn't to be sniffed at.

Wolves lie 10th in the Championship table, eight points off the top six and with 19 games to mount a belated promotion charge.

Kenny Jackett takes his team to face QPR on Saturday knowing they can't afford too many slip-ups if they are to have a chance of reaching their top-six target this season.

Edwards said: "At the moment, if you were a betting man you would say it is going to be a tall order to get to the play-offs.

"But, equally, you have seen teams in this division be in far worse positions than us now and end up getting promoted – it is that sort of league.

"If you can string a run together, and then towards the end of the season the teams above you get maybe a little bit nervous, then there is a chance to capitalise.

Edwards believes any new signings in the pipeline would help freshen up the squad.

And he feels that with so many important players having left, Wolves aren't doing too badly.

He said: "We have lost some key personnel if you think of Bakary Sako, Nouha Dicko, Benik Afobe – a lot of goals and assists from last season.

"Stears (Richard Stearman) moved on as well and then you take Jordan Graham out and arguably they are five of your best players.

"That is why I still feel we are doing well to be 10th and why it isn't all doom and gloom. I know the gaffer will be wanting additions and I am sure that will happen.

"That will give the lads a lift and it is always nice to see new players arrive with a freshness and enthusiasm to take things on – that would be good for everyone.

"And then hopefully we can start getting on a little winning run again."
