Wolves boss Kenny Jackett bemoaned his team's defending as their winning run ended with a 3-1 defeat at home Cardiff.

Two first half wondergoals from Craig Noone and a third just after half time from Joe Ralls saw Russell Slade's side take all three points back to Wales.

Michal Zyro had halved the deficit before the break with his third goal in two games.

But Wolves were well beaten at Molineux as they dropped eight points behind the play offs.

Jackett said: "We didn't do the things that have got us the good run we've had.

"We've been compact, defended well and harder to play against.

"Their key man was Noone, he's come inside on his left foot far too many times. Scored two goals and come inside for the other and played it across to Ralls.

"We gave ourselves a mountain to climb.

"There was no lack of effort or spirit, we have a lot of balls across their box.

"But the goals we gave away, I'm disappointed with them. We've been better at that.

"Our recognition of who their key players were, was disappointing. Pilkington was getting on the turn and striking from range.

"We were too easy to break against and get shots on target. Cardiff deserved to win."

Jordan Graham was stretchered off in the second half with a knee injury.

Jackett said the winger would be assessed in the next 24 hours.

And he said he hoped to bring a new signing in before next weekend's trip to London to face QPR.

Wolves still had 18 shots at goal in what was largely an entertaining encounter.

Did Jackett's team badly lack a 'striking specialist'?

"Maybe that's the case but scoring goals is not easy," Jackett said.

"What we've done better is been in games, stayed in games, and sometimes through the winter you needed to do that. We didn't do that today.

"There were too many easy, long range shooting opportunities for Cardiff that we didn't negate.

"They had more shots on target. Every other stat we've won quite clearly but that was the most important one."
