Midfielder Conor Coady has spoken of his delight and being back in the Wolves team and declared: "We're fighting for the fans."

Coady's return to the XI has coincided with three consecutive victories – and three clean sheets to boot.

The 22-year-old has been part of an impressive defensive rearguard that has not only conceded no goals, but also given away few clear-cut chances.

And he believes team spirit has played an important part in Wolves' mini revival.

"We sat down as a team after Sheffield Wednesday and agreed that we needed to get back to basics and stop conceding so many goals," Coady said.

"As a team we needed to do that, go back to basics, and that is what has happened over the last few games.

"There is a good spirit here and I knew when I came to the club how close knit the team was.

"I think we have seen over the last three games that the lads are really fighting for each other and fighting for the club and the fans."

Jack Price's absence through illness opened the door for Coady to win his place back – and he now has his sights set on a prolonged stay in the side.

"It is good to be back in," the former Huddersfield man added.

"Football is about being patient, especially when you are out of the team, and make sure you keep working hard and are supporting the lads to help them along.

"That's what I did, stayed patient and supported the lads in the changing room, and now I am pleased to have got back in and now have to try and stay there.

"I have played a lot of football in the last two years but when you are out of the side it is something you have to take on the chin. If it happens that you are out, you have to work twice as hard to try and get back in.

"I feel that is what I did in training and it was up to me to take the opportunity when it came along."

Wolves travel to West Ham for a testing FA Cup tie against Premier League opposition on Saturday.

And for Coady the FA Cup holds fond memories.

In 2013/14 he featured in all eight matches, starting seven, as Sheffield United went all the way from round one to the semi-finals, beating Villa, Fulham and Nottingham Forest.

They eventually lost a 5-3 thriller to Hull at Wembley – and now Coady would love a run with Wolves as well.

"I've got great memories of the FA Cup having gone to the semi finals with Sheffield United," he said. "I'm still only young but it was the best part of my career so far – it was superb and I loved every minute of it.

"At the time with Sheffield United we weren't doing too well in the league and the cup run really gave us a push and got us going in the league.

"For us it was massive. We beat Aston Villa and Fulham and also Forest from the league above and then played Hull in the semis.

"It was a special run for us and it's a magical competition? Especially if you can do well in it. Growing up, I always followed it closely too and Liverpool went a long way quite a few times.

"It's a great game for us on Saturday – to test yourself against top players from a top Premier League team is something all of the lads want to do.

"This is a club which wants to build a winning mentality and keep it going, whatever game comes in our way.

"We want to go to West Ham and really build on what we have done in the last three games."
