Bjorn Sigurdarson loved his Wolves comeback

Striker Bjorn Sigurdarson made an unlikely comeback in a Wolves shirt after two-and-a-half years and declared "it felt amazing."

The Icelandic forward's Wolves career looked to be over just a few months ago.

He was sidelined with a serious back injury and boss Kenny Jackett suggested he would have to look for a new club when was finally fit again.

However, a variety of circumstances have led to Sigurdarson coming back into the fold – and he played 23 minutes in Wolves' 1-0 win at Brighton on Friday after replacing James Henry.

The 24-year-old said: "I have been waiting a long time to get the opportunity and to be back out in that shirt and on the field was amazing.

"It feels like it's been way too long, and I am happy to be back. It was brilliant just to be part of the team again.

"I have been working with the physios and the coaching staff to get me back playing some minutes and working really hard to try to get back out there."

Sigurdarson, signed for £2.4million from Norwegian side Lillestrom by former boss Stale Solbakken in 2012, last played for Wolves in December 2013.

Injuries and loan spells with Molde and Solbakken's Copenhagen meant the Icelandic international was not in Jackett's plans. Now that he's back, he wants to make the most of it.

He added: "It feels like I have a second chance now and I have to take that chance and make something out of it.

"Where I come from, we don't give up – we never give up – it is great to be back.

"It was difficult coming into the game, with all the defending and helping the back four and then trying to get back running the other way.

"It was a tough game to come into, but the boys did brilliantly and I think I did alright after coming on."
