Carl Ikeme praised by boss as he returns for Wolves

Wolves goalkeeper Carl Ikeme has been praised for his professionalism – as he prepares for a first-team comeback tomorrow.

Emiliano Martinez has been ruled out of the trip to face Mick McCarthy's Ipswich Town with a thigh injury.

The injury forced Martinez off the field during the goalless draw with Burnley two weeks ago, although it isn't too serious and he should be back in contention for next weekend's visit of MK Dons.

However, it opens the door for the popular Ikeme to stake a claim for the goalkeeper's jersey.

The 29-year-old last started a Championship match in August, although he has played six times for Nigeria since then in his new-found international career.

Two of those caps came in the past week, with Ikeme keeping two clean sheets for the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifying double-header with Swaziland, which they won 2-0 to progress to the group stage.

And Wolves boss Kenny Jackett paid tribute to the academy product.

He said: "He got a great reception when he came on against Burnley. He's been very professional, done his work, trained very well. He's very mature and a top-class professional."

Defender Kortney Hause, however, is out for 'another few weeks' after suffering a slight recurrence of his hamstring injury.

Ethan Ebanks-Landell and Bjorn Sigurdarson will continue their comebacks in an under-21 fixture against Brighton at Telford this evening.

There will be a minute's silence before tomorrow's Portman Road clash in memory of the victims of the Paris terror attacks, and also for former Ipswich and Albion keeper Marton Fulop who died last week aged 32.
