Boss Kenny Jackett praised an improved Wolves performance as they played out a goalless draw with high-flying Burnley.

Wolves arguably shaded a tight encounter at Molineux, restricting the Clarets in terms of chances.

Benik Afobe and James Henry went closest for Jackett's team, who slipped further behind the play-off places as a result of more dropped points.

Jackett said: "We started quite nervously and grew into the game, played good football, controlled it and tried our best to get in behind the Burnley defence.

"They're tough to score against. We couldn't quite get that goal. "We did find our feet and played more like ourselves in terms of our passing.

"Jack Price made a big difference today, I was really pleased with him. The combination between him and Kevin McDonald, that chemistry of that, works very well."

It's been slim pickings in terms of positives for Wolves recently but conceding one goal in three matches - after nine in the previous three - was certainly something Jackett was pleased with.

He added: "We looked constructive in terms of what we were doing. Against Bristol City we looked bereft of that.

"If you're looking at producing a reaction to a high number of goals going in, the three games we've had (this week) I've seen that.

"I think there's a constructive pattern, which we didn't have on Tuesday when we didn't put two passes together.

"We want to be winning games so 0-0 is what it is, but there's a lot to base it on. Ultimately,we're looking to do better and with everything we have try to push up the table.

"It was one of those days where we needed something to break for us. We don't feel we've got far to go (to climb the table) but it's a competitive division."

Goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was forced to come off injured early in the second half, with Carl Ikeme on for a rare appearance, because of a thigh problem for the Argentine.

Winger Jordan Graham wasn't in the matchday squad and the Wolves boss confirmed a return to Oxford United on loan had been imminent, with Rajiv van La Parra feeling a recurrence of his knee injury.

Jackett said: "We were thinking about it but Rajiv van La Parra felt his knee and wasn't available today. Jordan won't go back (to Oxford) right now, we'll assess that injury situation."
