Wolves boss Kenny Jackett says his team's season is on a knife edge – and has called for his players to take responsibility as they look to climb the table.

A welcome 2-0 victory over Blues on Saturday ended a run of three straight defeats and, coupled with the loan signings of Mike Williamson and Grant Holt, optimism has returned to the club.

Jackett tonight takes his side to face Bristol City, hoping to build on the promise shown at St Andrew's.

His team sit 13th in the table, six points from the play-offs and eight above the relegation zone.

And Jackett said it was time to take responsibility for Wolves' destiny.

"We're mid-table and with a few wins we can start looking towards the top six. similarly with a few losses we can start looking towards the bottom," he said.

"We're perched in the middle at the moment with the opportunity for our season to go either way. We're the ones that have to take the responsibility, make sure we pick it up and drive it the right way, towards the top of the table."

With Burnley due to visit Molineux on Saturday, Jackett said getting as many points out of nine as possible, with the Blues result included, was the immediate aim.

"We did very well on Saturday and deserved our win. When that second goal went in it was a really good feeling," he added.

"Our judgement is on the three games, Birmingham, Bristol City and Burnley, we want as many points out of nine as we can and we've had a good start.

"We want to build on Saturday. The table, and the optimism of the club can feel different."

As reported in yesterday Express & Star, Wolves have appointed Ashley Lewis as a director as a replacement for Steve Morgan on the board.

Jackett said he had not yet met Lewis, and added: "I welcome him to the club. As far as im aware he's stepped onto the board, but he's not somebody I've met or spoken to."
