Wolves on the attack to win back fans

Attacking football is the way to bring fans back to Molineux – that's the verdict with Wolves experiencing their second-lowest Championship crowds since 2000.

Big gaps have been noticeable during Wolves' first three home Championship games of the campaign.

There were more than 12,000 empty seats for last Saturday's clash versus Charlton.

The total attendance for the opening three league games is 60,677, the lowest at Championship level or above since 2006.

Mitigating factors include the timing of the league curtain-raiser against Hull City – 12pm on a Sunday.

But the empty seats will concern the Molineux hierarchy who long-term are keen to push on with the stadium rebuild, a move that can surely only happen with capacity crowds.

Boss Kenny Jackett said of bringing the fans back: "I think if we get going with winning, attacking, good football on the floor the attendances can build up from a successful team.

"We're looking for the team to grow, there's a considerable amount of potential here. And I don't mean potential for two years' time.

"I mean potential for now, and realising that potential and playing to our very limit is something we can do effectively in the Championship.

"A good side that plays good football on the floor and ultimately is a winning side can attract a high attendance and what we want is a passionate following."

Wolves don't play at Molineux again until September 19 against Brighton, their only home game in September after five in August.

Jackett added: "We'll settle the group down now, albeit we're disappointed we're without Nouha Dicko, but we have to accept that and get on with it and focus on the next batch of games."
