Dave Edwards: I'm still hungry like a Wolf'

Midfielder Dave Edwards is hungrier than ever for success with Wolves - and is savouring every moment of his Molineux career.

Edwards returned to Compton Park to begin his 13th pre-season as a full-time pro.

After six weeks off, the Welshman was glad to be back, proclaiming he was ready to go ahead of the new season.

And Edwards, who will turn 30 during the upcoming campaign, was in reflective mood as he revealed his pride at playing for Wolves.

"I think I am even more excited to be honest," he said. "It is my 13th season and so I know I am past the halfway point of my career. I am even more excited and ready to go, especially at a club like Wolves.

"As you get older and more experienced you reflect a bit more on how your career is going.

"When I was younger maybe I took things for granted a little bit but now I realise what a huge club I am playing for and what is a privilege it is for myself and my family that I get to play here.

"I am sure that one day when I have long finished and I've got grandkids I will be sitting down and telling everyone that I played for Wolves and boring them with stories of when I was here.

"It is a huge club, I treasure every moment of my time here and can't wait for the season to start."

Edwards has predicted another rollercoaster ride for Wolves this season.

The team were in and around the automatic promotion places for spells last season but then dropped dramatically in November.

But Edwards said the young squad was ready to go again as they look to go one better.

"We've got a good group here who are professional and everyone I have seen looks refreshed and ready to go," he added.

"With the Championship you look down the fixture list and can never see an opposition and think 'three points is a given there'.

"Every game is hard-fought and you have to prepare right, play well on the day and do everything properly if you are to have a chance of being successful in this league."
