Wolves rookie striker Bradley Reid has been told his head is "on the beach" in a no-holds-barred blast.

The 19-year-old, on loan at relegated Conference Premier club AFC Telford, has been accused of playing poorly by boss Steve Kittrick.

Reid was dropped for Saturday's 2-1 win against Altrincham but came on as a 69th-minute substitute.

Kittrick said: "Bradley Reid has been poor. If I've got any criticism, he's the only lad I've got that's got his head on the beach.

"The best game he's had for us was at Braintree, but he's taken his foot off the gas and I told him before the game that's the reason I left him out. I've said 'you have got to go on when you get your opportunity, work hard and get your head where it should be.'

"He's a good player but he's got to learn about non-league football.

"Sometimes it's not about where you come from – when you come on loan, you've got to do your best.

"I didn't give him a dressing down at half-time but I told him there were a few things he could have done better."

Reid, who could eventually cost Wolves £200,000 from Wrexham after joining in February 2014, has scored once in eight games for Telford.

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett admitted Reid has got to learn lessons from the criticism.

He said: "My opinion on that is that's why we send players out on loan. It's up to the player to learn from this situation, whether he feels the manager is right or not.

"If the manager hasn't been happy with him that's part of football life and part of growing up. And, if there's a degree of truth in it, he has to bounce back.

"He has to handle that situation and be determined to prove that manager wrong, which I'm sure he would be very happy to do."

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Scott Dutton, 19, has left the club. His contract is up in June after he had after a month's loan at League One Crawley Town, but did not figure.
