The forward is confident Saturday's 2-1 derby defeat at Blues will prove to be a mere blip, as Kenny Jackett's men quickly turn their attentions to tomorrow's trip to Middlesbrough.

Wolves now find themselves out of the top six on goal difference but Afobe believes all is still to play for over the final four games.

He said: "Everyone has been good in training – the staff, the backroom staff, the people no-one sees, they have been unbelievable keeping us fresh and ready.

"No-one feels tired. Personally, I feel it is still December or January and there is no way we are running out of steam.

"We have been doing well and we just want to continue.

"Hopefully Saturday will not have a massive effect on us and we can go and win the next four games. That is how we are thinking."

Afobe notched his 30th goal of the season at St Andrew's to become the leading scorer in English league football.

But, with goals from Rob Kiernan and Demarai Gray then condemning Wolves to defeat, he admits the personal accolades count for little.

He said: "It is a team game and at the same time we are trying to score for the team. We can get promoted as a team and next year play as a team again.

"Everything here is about being a family and lifting one another up. That is why when mistakes happen, no-one gets on to one another."

In that regard, Afobe refused to lay any blame for Saturday's defeat at the feet of Scott Golbourne, after the left-back's error allowed Gray to score Blues' winner.

He said: "It was unlucky, Scotty is a great player and he has just made a mistake. No-one blames him, he has been fantastic since he came back from injury."

"We are disappointed but there are still 12 points to play for."
