Winger James Henry is relishing the ongoing battle with Rajiv van La Parra for a starting place as Wolves target five of the best in their hunt for promotion.

The 25-year-old has jostled for the spot on the right flank for most of the season alongside the Dutchman, with Bakary Sako tying up the position on the left.

Henry came on and scored in the 3-0 victory at home to Sheffield Wednesday and started the next three games with Wolves going on a four-game winning run in the Championship.

Van La Parra stormed down the tunnel after being replaced against the Owls but is still in the mix for a place, having replaced him late on in every fixture since, writes Craig Birch.

Their wing war for the spot continues with the big West Midlands derby at Birmingham City on Saturday, as Kenny Jackett's side look to keep their grip on the last play-off place.

Henry said: "There's been great competition for places all season, me and Rajiv have had a great battle this season having played about half of the games each.

"I think that shows you the strength we have got in depth and you need that. All I want to do is my best for the club, each time I go out onto the pitch.

Wolves players James Henry (left) and Lee Evans meet fans at the Molineux Megastore this week.

"If you're not starting, all you can do is be ready to come on or watch from the stands. Either way, you stay a part of the group.

"I am happy with my form, overall, most players have had indifferent form over the campaign like I have, but I have come back strong."

Jackett and midfielder Dave Edwards believe Wolves can still gatecrash the top two and Henry is another who echoes that opinion, with confidence in the camp high.

He said: "I think we have been playing well, as we have done all season barring November. There's been some good football and, at the moment, it's really clicking.

"We are scoring lots of goals and there are five massive games left, each one will be like a cup final so we want to take as many points as we can and see where it takes us.

"We are only five points off second place and six off the top, so I don't see why we can't strive to be the best we can be. At the moment, we are in the top six and we've got to keep ourselves there."

With local bragging rights up-for-grabs as a trip to St Andrew's comes on the horizon, Henry warns that no opponent can be underestimated.

Easter Monday's visitors Leeds United took the lead and came from 3-1 down to nearly force a draw before Wolves won 4-3, with the Whites a position above Blues in 15th place.

He said: "Leeds was a crazy game and that's why so many people in the world watch football, because anything can happen. It was fantastic for the neutral.

"In terms of us, we would have liked not to have conceded three goals but, sometimes, you need to show a bit of character to get through these matches."
