Wolves boss Kenny Jackett has told Rajiv van La Parra to develop more "bite" after he was hauled off during Tuesday's win against Sheffield Wednesday.

The Molineux head coach replaced the Dutchman with goalscorer James Henry in midweek, prompting Van La Parra to march straight down the tunnel.

Jackett said: "Rajiv didn't have an injury.

"I just felt we were letting Jeremy Helan have a little bit and we didn't quite have that foothold in the game.

"I wanted to make that change and James Henry gave us a little bit more bite and competitiveness down that side as well as scoring an excellent goal, which we needed.

"Rajiv had some excellent runs early in the game and ones we were unlucky not to score from.

"James just has more experience in the English game and was the right person in the right situation at the time."

Wolves moved within three points of the play-off places with Tuesday's win and they could close the gap further with Friday's home game against fellow promotion hopefuls Derby.

And Jackett has urged his side to go for the throat – as they did against the Owls.

He said: "We need to win as many games as possible and keep attacking and going for sides.

"If we can do that we will stay in the hunt for one of those promotion places as long as possible.

"There was a lot of good things for us against Sheffield Wednesday, not just looking at the Derby game, but a lot of good things for us to base ourselves on going forwards.

"The age and experience of the group is progressing and that's good to see.

"We're five points off fourth and fifth-placed team, which is close, and 10 off the top, which is Watford.

"So we're close but we have to keep the pressure on the sides above us by keep winning games.

"The last three games had seen us lose to Bournemouth, draw with Watford and draw at Brighton.

"Two points out of nine when you're in our position needing to chase makes it tough.

"Any of those results individually isn't maybe too bad, but if we don't keep winning and keep the pressure on the sides above us, it will be difficult because games are running out."
