Bakary Sako has been backed to rediscover his best form for Wolves as they hunt a Championship play-off place.

Sako has played a major role for Kenny Jackett's team this season, but has struggled to hit top gear since his recent return from the African Cup of Nations where he represented Mali.

The 26-year-old has started all three of his club's games since then – defeats against Reading and Norwich as well as last week's win over Huddersfield, albeit without adding to his seven-goal tally for the season. Wolves team-mate Kortney Hause refutes suggestions that the player has underperformed since his return.

He said: "Sako's a good player with a good attitude who just wants to work hard and do well.

"I think he's come back fine but there's a lot more to come from Sako.

"I'm not Sako so I can't tell you how he's feeling, but he's 100 per cent focused." Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Norwich has left Wolves sitting five points off the play-off places with 15 games left to play.

They will be targeting a precious three points to cut that gap when they return to action on Saturday at home to Rotherham.

Wolves have struggled for victories in front of their own fans in recent games, having won just two of their last nine at Molineux.

And Hause said: "Being near the top of the league, teams are more aware of our attacking strength. It's down to us to break them down and we've found it hard to do that, but we're still working on it and hopefully we can improve."

Jackett has set his team a 30-point target from their remaining matches.

And Hause agreed greater consistency will be the key to them reaching their goal.

He said: "It seems like one game we're at it and then one game we're not. You have to be consistent."
