The donation is a proportion of the proceeds from Craddock's testimonial year, which was rounded off in fine style with a match against one of his former clubs Sunderland on Bank Holiday Monday at the end of last season.

Wolves awarded the testimonial to Jody to mark ten years' loyal service, and the former club captain then decided to donate a proportion of the proceeds to the hospital, where his youngest son Toby has been treated for leukaemia for the last two-and-a-half years.

The funds will go to the BCH appeal to raise £4million for a new Children's Cancer Centre, while as a result of the testimonial, Radcliffe Rehabilitation Solutions are also donating over £3,000 of equipment to the hospital.

"There is no price that you can put on the exceptional level of care and expertise which the hospital have given Toby, but hopefully this donation will give something back as they move towards the target for the new Children's Cancer Centre," says Craddock.

"The staff and specialists who work at the hospital do a fantastic job, and deserve the very best facilities to both treat the children and make things easier to cope with for the parents.

"I have really enjoyed all the events of my testimonial year, and would like to thank everyone who has played a part.

"From Steve Morgan, Jez Moxey and the Board, to Robert Plant, Kenny Jackett, Mick McCarthy, Terry Connor, Bobby Saxton and all the past and present players from my former clubs, everyone has been only too keen to help.

"In particular the fans of Wolves and Sunderland, who gave me such support when I was playing, both came up trumps once again in turning out in such numbers for the match back in May.

"I would also like to thank the staff at Wolves for their help with the different events, and last, but by no means least, the committee of volunteers who worked so extensively throughout the year to make everything a success.

"I am so grateful for all the support, and amid so many great memories that moment when Joseph, Luke and Toby came on to take penalties at the end of the match is something that will stay with Shelley and myself for a very long time."
