Kenny Jackett today insisted he won't be experimenting as his Wolves champions bid to become the best third-tier team in history.

Wolves need to beat relegation-threatened Carlisle before an expected full house at Molineux on Saturday to break the League One points record held by Charlton, who finished on 101 two years ago.

The head coach made four changes for Saturday's 1-1 draw away to Coventry with Matt Doherty, Lee Evans, James Henry and Liam McAlinden replacing captain Sam Ricketts, Jack Price and top scorers Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko.

Jackett's side have already broken five club records this season but he is desperate for a national milestone to top it off.

"There won't be any experimentation – it will be our best side and won't be too far away from the 18 we have at the moment," said Jackett.

"They're the ones that have done the job.

"I didn't see any tired legs and we've got a week now which is a very good recovery period.

"I made changes to freshen things up but it was still the same group apart from Leon Clarke with a groin injury and George Elokobi with a hamstring.

"I felt we needed some fresh energy."

Jackett is keen to send the fans into the summer on a high and excited about next season.

"We want to put on a good show, win, and send the crowd away happy and with optimism for next year," he said.

"We have another week's work - after that it will be holiday but it's not holiday yet.

"We want that record which a win will take us to and after that with a near capacity crowd we want to send out a positive message from this season going into next."

Jackett was impressed with Lee Evans in the holding role alongside Kevin McDonald.

"He was quite impressive," said the boss. "He did well and has improved and is showing maturity and some good signs."

But he was disappointed with the conditions on Saturday, with a bobbly pitch and a strong wind making passing football difficult.

"It looked like we were playing with a square ball as it was up around people's knees at times," he said. "It affected the game."

Clarke was injured in training on Friday and Jackett said: "We'll probably make a decision on him around Thursday."
