Jubilant Kenny Jackett today urged his Wolves champions to smash the points record after winning the League One title.

Wolves clinched the 10th title in their history when Brentford could only draw 2-2 at MK Dons yesterday afternoon after Jackett's side won 3-1 at Leyton Orient on the lunchtime.

Their 30th victory of the season and 16th in their last 19 put them on 99 points, two short of the third-tier record held by Charlton in 2011-12 with two games left.

Although they play Coventry away on Saturday, Wolves are likely to receive the trophy on the final day of the season, Saturday, May 3 against Carlisle, in front of another bumper crowd at Molineux.

Head coach Jackett is allowing his players two days off but not before urging them to end a record-breaking campaign with a flourish by gaining another milestone.

"The record is 101 points so 102 will beat it and we need three more points from two games to get to that," said Jackett.

"So if that record is there, we'll be going for it because it would be fantastic for all of us to get.

"We'll keep focused and make sure we do our jobs.

"We're going to have a couple of days off now but we go to Coventry on Saturday knowing we can look forward positively."

Jackett allowed himself a rare smile afterwards and praised his players for their consistency in the second half of the season.

"To get anywhere the points total we've got is fantastic," he said.

"Also, look at our second half of the season – yesterday's win puts us now 19 points ahead of Orient, and for much of the season it was us chasing them.

"So the second half of the season has really been a key factor, and we've been very consistent."

Jackett said he wouldn't celebrate until the title was won but will allow himself to reflect on the achievement now they are going to lift the trophy.

"Yes, I can celebrate – I've got things to do but it's a nice feeling," he said.

"We've achieved promotion and we've won the title which has been our aim.

"We can start planning and looking towards the Championship with a very positive club and hopefully momentum.

"So to have all of those things is a nice feeling going through to the summer."

He added: "I felt we were in there in the first half of the season and we were competing and we did very well not to allow anyone to create a big gap on us.

"That was a big thing even though I didn't think our play was fantastic.

"Since the turn of the year, the quality of our football has been very good."
