Wolves' Kenny Jackett: Leigh Griffiths is not for sale – for now

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett today insisted he isn't worried about speculation linking top scorer Leigh Griffiths with a Molineux exit this month.

Griffiths's comments on Monday saying he has had his "eyes opened" by the transfer window, that "it would be an honour to play for Celtic" and Wolves would sell for the right offer have done little to quell talk the 23-year-old is unsettled in the West Midlands.

It's understood Celtic approached Wolves to take Griffiths on loan but Jackett wasn't keen, and a swap deal involving Callum McGregor was discussed but agreement couldn't be reached.

Jackett has been unhappy with his strikeforce for some time and, despite scoring 13 goals this season, Griffiths has only started two of the last six games as the head coach looks for the right striking combination.

"If the phone rings, we'll see, but it's not something I'm going to worry about," said Jackett.

"He's not someone we've transfer-listed or actively trying to sell, but it's all hypothetical unless anyone comes in. It's interesting to hear his comments on Celtic; they're a big club and as a Scotland international now, that will be of interest."

Jackett stressed Griffiths hasn't asked for a transfer or appeared unsettled.

"His attitude has been fine," said the boss. "He's had no problems or caused us any problems, or expressed any desire to leave.

"It's the first I've heard of it so we'll see, and it's important he keeps his head down and earns that place when he gets his opportunity.

"That's our focus and if there's an offer for anyone, we'll deal with it when it does."

Griffiths's form has dipped since he was taken off at half-time of the 2-0 defeat to MK Dons on December 14 when the head coach accused the striker and winger Bakary Sako of a lack of effort.

"Yes and it's up to him to fight back to get back into the team," said Jackett.

"But it was a good performance from him against Preston in our last game."
