Terry Connor today insisted he would pick title hopefuls Manchester City as Wolves' next opponents over any other team.

Wolves could be all but relegated tomorrow if all their rivals win before they host City on Sunday (4pm), leaving the clash against Roberto Mancini's multi-millionaires a 'do-or-die' showdown for the Molineux men.

Leaders Manchester United could be eight points clear by the time second-placed City kick off at Molineux, as the champions host Everton at 12.30pm on Sunday.

Connor reckons City's need to attack to eat into the points difference could be beneficial to Wolves.

The Molineux chief said: "Man United could be eight points ahead of City by the time we play them. So they need to win here to have any chance of winning the title.

"But no-one will say 'Wolves have got to win this one to stay in the Premier League'. That's why possibly the best team we could be facing is one of the top two."

With the gap on Sunday potentially the same between the top two as the difference between Wolves and the safety line, Connor is still clinging to the faintest hope of survival.

"If people are saying the race is still open at the top, then what about at the bottom, where the gap is the same?" he said.

"Possibly because Man City win more games – they're at the other end of the table so people think they could conceivably win four on the trot.

"They don't think we can do that because we haven't done it all season.

"But in a one-off game who knows?"
