Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today labelled the Molineux mob trying to force him out of the club as 'mindless idiots.'

McCarthy emerged from three days of heated debate about Saturday's controversial scenes during the 2-2 draw with Swansea to launch a fighting defence of his Molineux tenure.

The manager of five years was on the receiving end of a torrent of abuse as Wolves struggled to put an end to the five match losing run that has sabotaged their Premier League start.

When asked if the bitter critics had in some way helped his team retrieve a point by generating a 'siege mentality,' McCarthy issued an uncompromising reply.

He said: "Let's be clear, whether it's me or Karl Henry or Stephen Ward the people doing it are mindless idiots. Do not give them any credit at all, do not give them credit for getting us playing well."
