Wolves boss Mick McCarthy brands calls for his head from ‘mindless idiots’
Tuesday 25th October 2011, 1:45PM BST.
Wolves manager Mick McCarthy today labelled the Molineux mob trying to force him out of the club as ‘mindless idiots.’
McCarthy emerged from three days of heated debate about Saturday’s controversial scenes during the 2-2 draw with Swansea to launch a fighting defence of his Molineux tenure.
The manager of five years was on the receiving end of a torrent of abuse as Wolves struggled to put an end to the five match losing run that has sabotaged their Premier League start.
When asked if the bitter critics had in some way helped his team retrieve a point by generating a ‘siege mentality,’ McCarthy issued an uncompromising reply.
He said: “Let’s be clear, whether it’s me or Karl Henry or Stephen Ward the people doing it are mindless idiots. Do not give them any credit at all, do not give them credit for getting us playing well.”

‘Mindless Idiots’.
What a joke, sorry Mick never turned against you before but my patience is starting to wear thin.
We do have minds and are allowed opinions, I have played the game at semi professional level and what is being produced at Molineux is nothing short of horrific.
If you think the quality will improve then you are wrong. We will never progress with such outdated tactics and quite laughable defending.
I went to Blackburn first game and although we played well it could have been totally different had Blackburn taken their chances.
So nobody is entitled to an opinion without being an idiot?
This will go down well !
Well done the Express and star just keep the muck raking headline’s coming and stirring it up what are you trying to do the same as the Sun & NOTW did with Sven when he managed England???
Those fans are fickle!
Typical arrogance from McCarthy but only what we`ve learned over the 5years he`s been at the club. The money that the fans pay to get through the gates at every match gives them the right to voice their opinions. When they can see no progress then they have every right to complain. He proves yet again that he doesn`t give a dam about the fans.He has no rights being at a club such as Wolves. He has no tactical awareness, cannot instil confidence in a player,he just keeeps playing players when their form dips hoping they will come good.Remember the end of last season we were going to have 2 new centre-halves,we had one,we were going to have a left back, where is he? and another midfielder, where is he?Why all the talk and no action?or was it all a con again to pacify the fans.I know which one I go for. It`s time for a change, the sooner the better, and let this great club make progress.

Just to remind you Mick anyone criticising your skills and was at saturdays match is a paying Wolves fan you would do well to remember that anybody that is paid to do a job and gives a poor performance is open to critiscim.

Yes 1 point in 18…
These are the idiots who said Keogh, Collins etc were no good too and say that Addy and Milijas should be playing also (the ones that saved your skin on sat)
We all said that Fletcher should be playing last season where his goals last few games saved us, yet you only played him end of season cause Doyle got injured..
Carry on Mick let’s see who’s right again…
Third time unlucky for you i can see!!
Mick, if you want the fans to get off your case, then the only way to do it, is on the pitch, not in the press. The same goes for Roger Johnson; start justifying your fee and Mick’s decision to make you captain. I can’t help thinking, you should have earned the right to be our Captain, rather than just being gifted it. Can’t imagine that move [by MM] did anything for team spirit or Karl Henry’s feelgood factor. Fair play to Karl Henry he did his talking on the pitch on Saturday, rather than in the press. Now you and Johnson need to follow Karl’s example, Mick. By the way Mick, the ironic chhers at the previous game were aimed at you Mick, not, as mis-reported, ‘boos’ aimed at Karl Henry.
Mick, the best thing you could do, is to keep quiet, and sort out the mess we are in on the training ground. If i had said FXXX OFF to my ‘paying customers’ i wouldn’t have been working for my company much longer. You do bring on a lot of the critism you get yourself, its your whole attitude toward people, lets be honest Mick, Saturday wasn’t one of your best days on or off the pitch, your team played very poorly for 80mins , then your interview was even less inspiring, in the manner you spoke to the Sky tv interviewer/WM reporter. When your the main person representing any business or football club ,which is a business, its up to you to talk/treat people with respect, even though sometimes they maybe in the wrong. But not you, you just talk to/about/treat other people like their all IDIOTS and have/show no respect whatsever, and thats why a lot of people dont like you. Your such an ‘arrogant man, and i for one lost what little ,and it was only little respect i ever had for you on Saturday after telling your own paying supporters to Fxxx Off, you crossed the line forever with those words. And even now in this article your calling us ‘MINDLESS IDIOTS’ just go Mick but i wont use the same words you used to us. UTW:

Yet again E & Star trying to twist words.
Wheres it say any of the mindless idiots took credit for the fightback.

Hello, I didn’t boo at the game because I will no longer go and watch whilst MM is in charge.
Din’t get me wrong I will always support Wolves even if MM is manager and cheered the second Wolves goal against swansea loudly, BUT it only papered over the cracks and the latest comments from MM show how far he and his team have lost touch with the fans!
When he came originilly and had to pck players from a squad of 15 we all got behind him as he used our own talented youngsters who had been overlooked by previous managers.
Those youngsters played as a team and we finished 7th, when most of us expected relegation. What MM has done since then is forgotten what made that team so good, and why the fans got behind them!
This manager will be take this club into oblivion by alienating and fragmenting the heart and soul and very lifeblood of any club!
So please MM show some humility, admit your mistakes and misgivings, admit you got it wrong, lets then draw a line under it and move on.
From a not so mindless idiot!
After following the recent debates on the E&S, it seems that a degree of respect is required. MM, does not like receiving criticism or insults from the fans, but is quite happy to dish both out to the fans in good measure.
maybe the next 2 -3 matches will determine who is / are the mindless idiot (s).
This is better than any soap opera !!!
I think Wolves History will compare MM very similalry and indeed as positively as it does Graham Turner.
Both have done incredible jobs for our Club, from initially very difficult circumstnaces.
Equally, Mick as with Graham, has probably found his Level and has taken us as far as he possibly can. (Especially given the limited resources he is expected to work with in The Prem)
Whatever happens, he deserves treating with respect and dignity by all.
Mick is of course correct with his assessment. Considering where he, Karl and Steven have taken us – they do not deserve the treatment doled out by some of our less desirebale support. Yet, he would be better served concentrating all his efforts on sorting out a defence that is conceding goals at a rate of knots. Mindless idiots are on the rise, in the stands and on the pitch.
Your a joke of a newspaper. Why keep regurgitating this rubbish?!
I do think this is a spot on assessment of the Wolves fans. Well done Mick spot on!!
Mick – you are a disgrace. Your stubborn attitude, sarcastic comments, and swearing at the fans have alienated you from the majority of us.
Whilst I will always thank you for getting the club to this level, enough is enough. Your signings are a disaster, your tactics are shambolic, and your team selections are mind-boggling at the best of times.
The time has come for you to bow out of here with some grace and dignity still left intact, for I can only see this getting worse until the fans start to hate you as much as we do your “captain”
I give up! whist I don’t like the atmosphere at Moleneux & I dislike fans calling for the mangers head & getting on the players backs I also believe football supporters have a right to voice their concerns if they wish.
I have always been a supporter of Mick & pleased to say I was not one of the fans hurling abuse. But I am getting upset that I support a football club that feels it has the right for players and manager constantly blame supporters and talk to its own fans in such demeaning ways! I do not understand how picking a fight with supporters will help improve the atmosphere…… I paid best part of £50.00 to go on Saturday….We need a sensible dialogue between fans & the team. For god’s sake Moxey & Morgan your silence is deafening please SORT THIS OUT!

The problem as I see it is that McCarthy always appears confrontational to supporters who are, quite rightly, concerned about Wolves current form. Supporters do not turn up and pay good money to be disappointed. They want to see the team perform well and gain points, particlarly against so called weaker teams such as we are perceived to be.
It may well be that the vitriol aimed at McCarthy on Saturday was over the top but he must stay professional at all times. God knows he is paid enough. High levels of professionalism should be a given. After all, the supporters are the “nupties” and “nuggets” in his eyes.
Owen Coyle is a manager in a similar position at our old friends Bolton. No home wins , bottom three and no sign of a win but he tries to win over restless fans by saying the right things…..talking about the game in clear terms and valueing supporters views and recognising frustration. Not a hint of sarcasm or arrogance in his or Martin Yols post match, and I would suggest a much happier ship in both cases.
I feel that in McCarthy we have an able manager and knowledgable coach who has become overwhelmed by his own self importance and indifference towards the paying customers. We do know what we are taking about and are genuinley angered by McCarthys attitude. Can you imagine having a boss like him at work ?
The humour doesn`t work, the hard man act doesn`t work and you wind the fans up at your peril. Morgan will be forced to speak out when he shouldn`t have to because of McCarthys arrogance and dismissive attitude to the clubs supporters. This will only heap more pressure on him and the playing staff.
More humility is the recipe for success and what more humble an act than resigning before he destroys our clubs season and his own reputation.
Discuss chaps…………….

Well done Mick another massive own goal!
Fans are now mindless idiots as well as numptys. Any support or sympathy one has with him must be rapidly evaporating.
What irrates me beyond measure is the total disregard he has for any one elses opinion however phrased or poorly delivered (The Swansea disgraceful abuse being an example) but others have put valid constructive arguments forward which are at best ignored or worse abused for daring to have an opinion that differs-NOT GOOD ENOUGH you are paid by these mindless idiots.
For example I have not heard him put his hand up for getting the following wrong:
I am happy with my squad I have 2 players for each position! Mmmm not from where we are all sitting.
Johnson as Captain from day 1 so no way to sub him no matter how bad or lippy he gets without a climb down-never gonna happen.
Kightly starting and continuing to start although it was obvious to everyone he simply wasn’t ready hence his loan after the damage had been done.
Everyone shouting for a Guedi and Milijas start but them only getting 15 mins and look at those 15 mins- 2goals!! Then him taking credit for inpsired subbing-Astounding!
Playing an already so so striker who is clearly unfit and lacking the goods to play in the PL-sorry Blake but you have simply never delivered it at this level.
Sorry Mick I was a massive fan despite a rocky season last year but I like many others have had enough of the randomness of your team selection, actions and thoughtless comments.
Thanks but it’s time to move on to new pastures, good luck, all the best but business is business and we all know the PL is all about doing the business-which you are sadly not!
Wether mick likes it or not he has to respect the fans. The ones that tend to call for his head are the ones that have the luxury of seeing us play home and away. They have a right to voice opinion like we did at stoke last season. Bring Jodie back in the frame and zubar hunt and guedioura. Like it or not they are the backbone of our team.
A message to roger Johnson, shut your mouth and act like a captain, because to be fair you’ve been rubbish alongside Berra. If your performances warrant a chance to shout your mouth off then you earn our respect, but slating the fans at every opportunity will make it more difficult for you to settle in. You arent as good as Jodie cradock and he has a lot more class as a bloke.

Top work Mick!! Good on ya, you stick it to them! Seeing the faces of the halfwits in the SB on Saturday brought to mind ‘Deliverance’. Subintelligent indeed.
The ‘muck raking’ seems to be coming from our manager and captain. He can’t have it both ways – he has to accept the praise in the good times and take the flak in the bad times. Unfortunately for Mick, the bad times are the present day and the flak is fast coming from supporters alienated by the animosity shown by himself and his captain.
He will get that fight he was smarting for on Saturday sooner rather than later if he keeps these comments up!

Team Selection 2/10
Ability to bring in quality players 2/10
Knowledge of available players other than british 2/10
Stubourn, Pig Headedness,Favourites/loyalty and ability to hang on to a job being way out of his depth 11/10

@1 – If Morgan says Mick has no chance of the chop even if we get relegated, would you all of a sudden be a changed man? Morgan keeping his mouth shut is fine business. All the Johnson comments are exactly what we don’t want, if the chairman started to then I’d turn into a Rugby fan and avoid the chavstorm it would cause.
—
The team had a bad run, the worst in two decades and guess what, we’re still not in the relegation zone. 2 of the losses were against Spurs and Liverpool. We deserved at least a point against Newcastle, despite the horrible conceded goals. QPR was inexcusable and a trip to the Hawthorns is a complete lottery.
Honestly, what kind of team do the fans think we are? We’re not Stoke, not Newcastle and we’re no Villa. Take off the golden glasses and look at us from the point of view of a neutral the Prem. We’re a Bolton, Wigan or a Blackburn. In other words, not anywhere near Europlaces and not one of the newly promoted teams. We’re in the mix with a host of other teams who all want to be better than they are.
Unlike the Boltons, Wigans and Blackburns, we’ve been bettering ourselves year on year and after 9 games aren’t exactly far off points per game to beat 40 at the end of the season. We’re not going to do another 5 game losing streak no matter how pessimistic you are. And if we finish with 44 points and 15th I’ll be over the moon. 47 points and 12th the year after and so on. We’re not getting instant success unless Morgan wins £180m in Euromillions and gives it all to Mick.
Mindless idiots are creating an atmosphere at the Mol where Wolves are nervous to play. Our own ground and the players look like a different team. If it continues we’ve got 38 away games this season and god help us.
Out of Darkness, Cometh Light. Keep the Faith.

willenhallwolf – Mick is the manager and he’s allowed his say too. He is better qualified than anyone in the stands to comment on the game. If the fans aren’t careful they will hound him out and get another Hoddle – perhaps that is what they deserve. Perhaps after another 10 years plus outside the top flight they will realise exactly what Mick has managed to do for the club.
Not in the relegation zone, 3 points off midtable why the sudden panic?
Let’s face it we’re not going to attract any players in Jan – who would want to come and play for these fans….and before you start listing the reasons you think Mick should go – remember it was the same with Taylor…the same with Jones…. our managers change but the fans don’t. It’ll sadly be the same for the next manager – hopefully that will be after Mick has had another 10 years or so.
Stability is the key – see the long term plan – year on year progression – let’s hope the fans can do there bit to help. Compare where we right now (and over the last couple of seasons) to the 20 years before Mick.
The Wolves fans can demand a say – they pay there money – they can all tantrum until they get what they want – but they can’t see all the other fans are laughing at them. Forget the 12 man, forget the home fortress – our fans are giving every other team we play a couple of goal head start. SHAME. FACT.

Here we go again.
McCarthy v Wolves fans Round 2.
Another 200 plus comments await.

Oh come on MM! Why not act with a little dignity? You eventually made changes at the weekend, earning us a point. Gotta say though, some players desperately need “a rest” to try and discover some form and confidence.
MM cannot keep turning on the fans and having a go at people that dare to voice disapproval. Why not try something different, and remain quiet, get on with doing the job to the best of your ability and then at the end of the season have your voice? It will be either a case of he who laughs last, laughs longest, or, the fans were right, I’ve taken the club as far as I can.
If MM continues to round on the club’s supporters, eventually the relationship will become so strained, SM will have no choice than to remove him from post, regardless of the team’s relaite progress. And as for wanting a fight, I think atm he would find somebody quite easily right now that would take him up on that offer, and rip his bleeding head off.
And 1 last note, Roger Johnson should shut the hell up. He always has something to say off the pitch, however his performances on the pitch are less than inspirational. So unless your performance matches the bull that comes from your mouth, keep your damned trap shut.
I tend to leave opinions til its over, the so called fans that fail to try and encourage the team are mindless.
this does not mean they should have no opinion.
You do however need to generate enthusiasm from the stands, no matter how its going.
Leave the other stuff until the games over.
The other issue is stop being jealous of what these guys earn, this is their career not mine or yours.

If it wasn’t time before, for Morgan and Moxey to come out and make some kind of statement ,it certainly is now. Im so angry that after Saturday’s debacle,on/off the pitch , that Morgan/Moxey have allowed McCarthy to come out in the press/Sky tv and make such an outrageous comment, about the supporters, the very people who without their financial support the club wouldn’t survive. It would seem MM is like certain people on this board, who think people havent a clue what their talking about, and shouldn’t voice their ‘OPINION’ UTW:

I used to enjoy going to watch Wolves, through good and bad times. But recently I find myself thinking I wish I could just turn the sound off.
Yes we’re going trough a bad patch. Some players might not be on 100% form. But we shouldn’t be on their backs. MM picks the best team for each match and although sometimes I think I wish so and so was playing I havent been in training so how can I pick.
We should show more solidalitory, this has been a bad couple of weeks, lets not make it months by always being on their backs.
I don’t want to see anyone leave the club. MM is the best thing we’ve had in a long time and if you let him get on with the job in hand he won’t give up.
I saw the plates heads drop on Saturday and yes we pay the way but if your boss was shouting at you every time you went to work I don’t think you’d be hanging around for long.
A bit of team work from the fans is needed. Just remember the last few games of last season, the atmosphere was electric and the players really performed with the backing of the crowd.
Come on Wolves!!

Spot on except that are no tactics. Hoof the ball any where and never have I seen a team willing to pass the ball – or should I say -
get rid of the ball as quickly as possible. No one appears to think ahead as to where their team mate, with the ball, might need to pass it when meeting opposition. Count the number of times the ball is passed backwards/sideways, the total is more than the passes forward.
Basically, NO TACTICS.
I’m not a betting man but I feel it’s worth a bet that when the ground expansion is completed we are up for sale!

When a team is struggling for confidence and fans start booing when things arent going our way, Im inclined to agree with Mick about those fans being mindless idiots, after all, how exactly is that going to help in the slightest.
Anyone can have and voice an oppinion, It doesnt mean they are right, or that they arent idiots for voicing that oppinion. If I was a paying customer at a Mathes seminar, and I stood up and proclaimed that in my oppinion 2+2=71, when people told me I was an idiot for voicing that oppinion, would I be able to turn around and say, how dare you call me an idiot, Im a paying customer so I have a right to my oppinion, therefor Im not an idiot.
wolves ay we ! – In the same Interview he acknowledged he was being sarcastic. You not understanding that kind of points to the fact that you are a bit dim.

Well said Mick – let the ‘mindless idiots’ have it!!!
Here’s to another 5 years of Super Mick

McCarthy referes to the “mob” as if they are the minority. The fact is the majority want McCarthy out. It’s just a fact that it’s the minority who voice it.
He will always defend his situation and turn against the minority. It’s the nature of the beast.
The fact of the matter now is this……
He may have been good for us five years ago.
Now he’s not. The majority of the fan’s now realise this. Only a few remain that think we should keep him because he did a decent job in the past.
At some point in the very near future Mr Morgan’s head will take over what his heart is telling him. Again it’s the nature of the beast.
My opinion just get rid before it’s too late.

I agree fully with Mick. The people booing him and the players are doing absolutely nothing to support the club. The mentality of ‘I pay to watch therefore I’m entitled to boo or moan’ is wearing thin. You’re not entitled to moan just because you parted with your money. You’re supposedly called a SUPPORTER for a reason. If you turn up at Molineux just to moan, don’t bother – You’re an idiot!
All these people who call Mick arrogant, when he tells the truth make me laugh. These same people call him arrogant and yet they have the arrogance to think they know how to manage a professional football club in the Premier League better than he can. This isn’t Football Manager of FIFA 12 on the XBox, it’s a real football club. Get a grip you idiots and let Mick get on with doing his job, which he’s qualified to do. If you want to make a difference, start SUPPORTING the club!
So Mick is wrong to voice his opinion is he? He is actually spot on with his assessment of some of the so-called supporters on Saturday. What these numpties don’t realise is that it is them that are dragging the club down, not Mick and the players, and there is no excuse for the abuse that we saw on saturday. The numpties may have also scuppered any potential signings in January so well done all of you. There havent been many occasions in the last 40 odd years when I’ve been ashamed to be a Wolves fan but Saturday was one, and it wasn’t anything to do with what was happening on the pitch.
no 14, you obviously haven’t seen the interview on sky this afternoon, it was a disgrace how McCarthy slated the fans off again. Obviously despite working full time and obtaining a degree in my spare time, i am a mindless idiot because i am not a overpaid and overrated manager or footballer. In the past i have worked overtime to be able to take my daughter to matches, but i won’t be doing so again, because as long as he stays as manager i will not go again. I was there on saturday, and while i don’t agree with booing during the game, everybody is entitled to their opinions, i thought we had freedom of speech in this country, obviously not in muppet micks world though. Also in my job if i swore and treated people like muppet has in the last few days,i would have had my p45 by now. He goes on how his substitutions changes the game, well if he had started the game without his favourites, and with milijas and guediora we probably wouldn’t have been 2 down. When his he going to stop being a stubborn mindless idiot and do the right thing before he drags the club down anymore, he has already alienated majority of the fans, the way it is going how long before the rest can see him for what he is.

never again – Before getting upset about being called an idiot, learn to spell. Hilarious how you inadvertently back up Micks comments.
Everyone complaining about Micks comments are hypocrites. You all can dish out every name under the sun to the man that has given us our most successful period in many years, but cant take any abuse coming back at you.
Everyone comparing this situation to what would happen in shops and businesses havent got a clue. Football is completely different. If a customer came into a shop and started spewing the abuse that some of the fans did on saturday, they would be escorted from the premises and banned from that store. I feel sorry for the players and management who have to put up with the mindless idiots who feel they are owed respect, when they cant even show any respect back.

The boong at the matches is the only real way that the fans can express their lack of satisfaction at the performance they have just witnessed, however, what MM is saying is the abuse both he and the players are getting other than the booing is not acceptable – and I for one agree with him. Like most on here, I will support WW until the day I die, as I will MM as he is our manager and deserves our support. I hate seeing the poor performances but we as supporters have our role to play and that is to suport the players and the management until such times as SM makes a decision to change it. Yes Addy, Milijas, Hammill should all be playing, so should Hunt but we all know it ain’t going to hapen so we just have to accept it, there is nothing we can do about it! Wardy gopt the abuse last Yr and so far this season, in my opinion, he has been terrfic, hasn’t he? so was MM right to keep playing him – yes!
Stick with it guys, it can only get better…. keep the faith, up the wolves!

Listen to yourselves, who cares if you pay to get in , MM is the manager end of,Stop kidding yourselves into thinking you have the right to be up there be thankful that the club is debt free and going in the right direction in the way of development. If Wolves win there next 3 games in style the boo boys will be back pedalling. Albion fans must be laughing at you lot slagging off your own manager… Leave him to do is job, lets not get carried away.. if MM gets the sack who do you expect to replace him ? We are no longer a force remember so will end up with a out of work manager who has been sacked several times.. Expectations? Why? because we were once a great side…stop living in the past and leave the man to get on with his job!!!

MICK – I’ll back you all the way.
I was embarrassed by some of the moronic idiots reactions on Saturday. Some peeople have such short memories.
You and your team have given me 6 years of joy, excitement and pleasure – they’ve been the best team I’ve seen in 20 years watching the Wolves.
We suddently go a 6 game streak of not winning and the morons are reering up again!
We’re having a difficult time at the moment but McCarthy deserves and has earnt the time to put things right.
Sometimes Wolves fans make me sick. The idiots calling for his head deserve lower league football.
Mick – calm down – I’ll buy you a pint.
Let the team do do the talking on the pitch and nowhere else. Good results will stop the infighting. Fans will always have opinions – good and bad. That’s what’s footballs about.
Support the men in gold and black on the pitch and crticise and praise them (if necessary) in the pub!

The idiots were the ones saying stop playing O’Hara so deep all season and when you finally listened and put him to where he did so well last year, you claim it as a masterstroke Mick. Well, we’ve been saying it all year so maybe if you listened a bit more, you would have saved us all a lot of heartache…
Report abuse
Oh dear, let’s stop all this unnecessary rubbish. We have played badly in one game before Saturday and that was against QPR. We should have had 3 points v Newcastle but thanks to an incompetent referee and linesman we got none.
Confidence is at rock bottom, we can all see that but Mick has been proved right as often as he has been wrong eg Stephen Ward who looks a first class left back now.
But, please do me one last favour, find a replacement for Christophe Berra, the root of most of our defensive problems.
Now let’s all get behind Mick and the team – please.
disgusted wolf – Climb down from your high horse mate. If you were there and didn’t boo as you say, then he isn’t talking about you.
He isn’t saying fans aren’t entitled to their opinion, he is merely wanting fans to support the team throughout the 90 minutes. He has said in the past that booing at the end of a bad game/result is fair enough, but during the game everybody needs to pull together.
Getting on the back of players are 10 minutes when it was still 0-0 was quite plainly, mindless idiocy.
The fans are treated to players sounding off each week in the press how they are “going to put things right this week.” Then we have another depressing spectacle of defensive errors, pedestrian and predictable play and missed chances. The fans are fed up, the manager’s fed up, presumably the players are too. What mustn’t happen is for each to fall out with the other as is happening now.
The owner’s intention is that McCarthy will stay even if we are relegated, however circumstances may dictate that alters. Stability is the key to success we are told. Try telling that to WBA and Newcastle who changed their managers and moved on. It’s going to take a lot to remove MM in the first place and just be careful if that’s what you wish for. We may end up worse off.
So carry on supporting the team through thick and thin because ultimately results will be the deciding factor and we may yet survive this season despite the recent dross served up. It’s too early to give up. COYW

Mick, before you call anyone else mindless idiots, think you need to have a look at some others closer to home.
Michael Mancienne stated in the paper on Sunday, that the training in Hamburg is a hundred times harder than it was in England(he didnt mention us by name)and his performances on the pitch have justified the hard work.
His comments make you wonder whats going on at Compton with Sicknote and Arthur Daley doing the sessions.
So before you start slating the fans, open youre eyes to the real issues of whats happening on the pitch,or to be pricise whats not happening.

When you thought it could not get worse big mouth opens his big mouth again. If he was a decent manager he would talk and explain to money paying fans why his team have played so poorly over the past weeks and perhaps also say how he was going to change it around. To say getting the 2 – 2 result was the luck needed to change things for the season shows what little chance our team has to be any better in the future.
When he opens his mouth he says his time is up in my view. Mr Morgan must know we need a better manager than this if he is going to realise his and our dream of a established perm team

That’s the final straw. Mr Morgan take note I’ve been a fan for 33years and spend hundreds of pounds every season on my beloved club, you will not get another penny from me until this IDIOT goes. This is the first time I have ever felt this strongly over a manager. He does not deserve to be a manager of such a great club when he comes out with comments like this and also lets the Captain who hasn’t been there 5 minutes do the same.

After some of the comments I heard coming from the fans around me, this is the least he can say. I don’t think this is the best way he could have dealt with it but if I was him I would have come out with a lot worse than “mindless idiots”.
Surely it’s about time we all stopped having a go, fans, management and players alike (Johnson can’t seem to keep his mouth shut recently) and started pulling in the right direction.
It’s a hard time to be a Wolves fan but we’ve been through worse.

This comment by McCarthy is a discrace, to think people once sang Super Mick. Mr Morgan, if you are reading these comments, im a season ticket holder of 50 years, i have never turned on the club or its Managers, You seem to wat to take our club forward, your building a lovely new stand and facilities to bring our younger generations to love the game and our city and team. dont allow this from a manager, its hurting fans and turning us away from you, and you will realise thats money lost.
Lets get our team going again, bring in some fresh faces and let a proper manager meet yours and our ambitions. with statements like the above when we pay money week in week out home and away you are on to a loss.
Mick, i never doubted you until today, discraceful comments, we have every right to sing and express feelings, and i can assure you against City in thew week and at Wigan if you are still here, i shall be too.

How dare you mccarthy slate us,we accept what you have done for this club but this run is no different to previous years. When we won the championship we went 11 games without a win and you refused to change the personnel so this season is no different, you changed the formation when we all know 442 does not work in the prem for us,you play players clearly not good enougth, out of form and in the wrong position.I have come up now for years but i am seriosly considering renewing my season ticket next year. You are turning this around and blaming us when the problems lie in your back garden, you treat us the paying customers like something on the bottom of your shoe.Show us a bit of respect and get your house in order or you will be playing in an empty stadium next year

Far more important things to do than argue openly about the Wolves. I think too many expected to be pushing for europe and it hasnt worked out as yet. Leave the Manager alone and get behind the club.Mick will get it right and will know what he has to do in the Jan window so until then try and get behind whoever is playing. I have supported Wolves for 63 years since I was seven years of age and been a Season Ticket holder for a considerable number of years.
I was not shouting for Mc Carthys head on Saturday but must admit that I was extremely disappointed with the teams display. Tactics seem way off course and one can say that the subs made a difference but for me Swansea blew it with late substitutions. We were lucky for the point.
I find it difficult to be a Season Ticket holder and continuing with my support yet be “mass” convicted by Mc Carthy as “numpty” and “moron” and “mindless idiots”.The manager seems intent on feeding the flames with supporters. They wont always be keen to part with hard earned cash in these circumstances.
After all these years I do not recall any previous managers classifying supporters in this way.It is totally indefensible. I cannot understand why the hierarchy at Molineux are so blatently silent on the issue.
What responsible organisation would allow an employee to address customers as such – Wolves as a club profess to be organised and professional but that professionalism is not evident from the top table at this time.
I feel that it is time that the Chairman spoke to supporters to inform them what action is in hand to solve this full frontal and totally destructive confrontation,
Gates are going to fall even more and the festering feelings will become more widespread and disruptive to the team and club..
The majority of the support near to me last Saturday did not boo and cajole at the substiutions and terrible team display but one could hear the silent majority expressing quietly the same sentiments toward the Manager and his tactical and substitute decisions.
Not everyone displays their dismay vocally but the undercurrent is there like a time bomb. The situation needs sorting from the top and the manager to cease inflaming customer reactions with childish descriptions.
I shall seriously consider staying away if things dont change soon and this could well be my last season as a season ticket holder.
I know I will not be the only one.

Spot on MM. Noisy, unappreciative minority. The same numpties who thought we would finish mid table. It’s lack of confidence and injuries affecting too many key players that has caused this run, although by and large we have played reasonably.
I suggest the boo boys are the same old short sighted individuals who for whatever reason have never taken too, or don’t get MM.
They whined when Jez sold their seats to the Albion, but did more to knock the club on Saturday than a south bank full of baggies ever could. The club does not need your support

Was Graham Taylor given enough time NO
Was Dave Jones given enough funding/backing NO
Has MM been given enough time Yes
Has MM been given enought funding/backing YES
Has MM got it right A resounding NO.
Sven was sacked today because the board recognised a flaw in his ability to produce the goods at a lower level 24 wins in 56
yet MM has a record of only 25 wins in 126 top flight performances. As the manager at Wolves MM has over seen 101 wins BUT 89 losses in 251 perormances, clearly shows where hist management ability is best sadly not a top flight manager.

We stayed up last season thanks to Spurs helping us out and an 88th minute goal from Hunt in the final game.
Regardless of all of our opinions this chap wins 1 game in 5 on average!!!!
Forget funding as you only have to look at Norwich and other teams doing it on a shoe string. We seem completely inept of being able to develop our own squad. Furthermore he chooses to completely play people out of positions.
We concede goals partly due to having too extremely slow centre halfs. You should have one guy who attacks the ball and the faster guy sweeping up behind.
We play 2 out and out wingers and have no focus point for the attacks.
I am sorry to say look at the facts and the standard of football thay we are enduring. Swansea are going about things the right way, pass and move, playing triangles. It was an embarrasment.

I don’t buy into that! As far as I am concerned you have been a complete and utter failure in the Premier League, just look at your record if you want proof! Our defending was a joke, end of. Whilst I can see that fans getting at players isn’t going to help – it increases anxiety – I think they’re entitled to voice their opinions at performances that simply haven’t been good enough. Bar Liverpool and Spurs, we haven’t played any real quality teams yet, and have dropped points at home to QPR and Swansea, and Newcastle (although we didn’t do too badly and they have been playing well). Don’t get me started on the WBA game.
What worries me is the alienation from the fans. It’s becoming very much a case of ‘us’ and ‘them’, with the fans simply becoming a source of revenue and Mick determined to trample over their views, which if he’s not careful will soon see that source of revenue declining! Never have I seen a manager and club captain slate the fans in such a way – it will not resolve a situation, and if anything Mick doing this puts more pressure on the players to succeed because they’ll know if they don’t the fans’ reaction will be even worse. This is due to what Mick has said about them.
I dread to think what it’ll be like if we don’t beat Wigan in two weeks…

Message to Steve Morgan: Whatever the rights & wrongs of the idiots that boo & jeer, I saw a rather more frightening thing on Saturday – the ones who just quietly got up out of their seats and left – there were a helluva lot – that’s a far more damning criticism of MM than anything else. What if they don’t come back ?
Message to Mick McCarthy: You’ve got a massive problem now, challenging people to a scrap and taking on the fans ain’t what normal fans like me want to see. You have to understand that far from being mindless, the Wolverhampton public by & large are educated football fans – the non-league scene around here has always been very strong and like number 2 above, I also played at semi-pro level and we do understand the game Mick – don’t insult our intelligence. It’s a battle you won’t win by fighting us – you need to have a scrap with some of the players who are letting you down – start with Johnson – he was culpable for the goals conceded against Liverpool, QPR, Newcastle, Swansea – sort him out before you start on the fans!

Well said Mick! Behind you 100%. I am a SUPPORTER which means that whether the team is winning, drawing, losing, playing well, playing badly, in the Premier League or the 4th Division (as was)- and I have seen all of these things – I am behind the team, the players and the manager. Those people who are calling for Mick’s head, boo Karl Henry etc should clear off and go and ‘support’ some other team PLEASE!
Who started all this I wonder? Maybe it was MM with stupid comments like he couldn’t play Adlene because he’d just come back from injury and then Edwards comes back from a longer injury straight back into the team. Then he didn’t have to comment about Karl Henry but comes out and says Henry is his first pick and then 10 others and undiplomatic comments keep coming. He’d be better keeping his mouth shut and getting on with the job! Or maybe this is a smoke screen for the fact that he can’t do the job.

Mick, please, just go, I am sorry but you are NOT capable of taking this club any further forward and we need to progress to survive.

Too many fans seem to think its acceptable to insult and abuse players and the management but of course believe that this should be a one way street! I applaud the passion for the game that Mick Mcarthy shows (which I accept can be miscontrude as aggressive/confrontational) – but ive no doubt he has the club at heart and the ability to turn this around. Whilst he is manager and the players turn up they will always have my 100% support whether premiership or not. When we made it back into the premiership I personally looked at this as any other business plan over a 5 year period not 2 or 3. Stand back and look at the bigger picture and be careful what you wish for.

Mick McCarthy is a decent honest man doing his best. Wolves are a win off half way which is success for Wolves. Don’t kid yourselves that you are likely to finish higher than that in the next 5 years whoever is manager. A bit of perspective might make the custard bowl a better place to watch football. When your in 16th place and safe at the end of the season you will have had a good year. But you will have alienated a decent manager and a few players who won’t hang around when they get a better offer, and some of them will. Time and time again McCarthy shows a total lack of respect for the fans, he has consistently and stubbornly devalued the fans and their opinions for years.
Just waiting for him to use the old school cop-out “have they played the game”.
The most interesting thing for me is to hear many pro-McCarthy wolves fans now turning against him with these latest outbursts. Not to mentione his gestures towards the crowd on Saturday, take it like a professional Mick every manager gets jeered (Big Sam just took it as do many others).
It is all very well promoting the ‘siege mentality’ that Sir Alex has successfully employed many times over. The once difference however is that Sir Alex builds his ‘siege mentality’ with the fans and the club as a whole NOT against them.
Get O’Neill please Mr Morgan before Leicester do.

If MM was sacked and it is a very big if due to Moxey’s and Morgan’s loyalty, who do you think would want to come and manage here? The abuse from the terraces has happened many times before – remember the disgusting treatment of Lee and Sir Jack? Furthermore, I would suggest that any new manager – especially someone like O’Neill – would need big funds! Funds that we are probably reluctant to release.

might as well resign , you will never be accepted back now.we will only hear from morgan and moxey when the club starts losing money.mick needs to accept when he has got team selection wrong and admit it ,not blame everyone else, other managers no matter how bad show respect for the people who earn in a year what he gets a week.his constant bickering with the fans is turning the players against the fans too and no one wants to go and watch a team they no longer relate to.

Can’t actually believe this is happening. We really do have some mindless fans at the club, as my name states, its embarrassing. Every club goes through a bad period in a season, and yes we lost 5 in a row but we’re not even a third of the way through the season yet! Super MM will get things right, and he’s proved he can do things right by keeping us up for two seasons straight! MM has done so much for the club and has practically transformed the club. When he took charge we were doomed, we were destined for league 1 football after the mess Glenn Hoddle got us in! He has been one of the best managers ever at Wolves and we all should be giving him the respect he deserves. I know he sometimes gets things wrong but the fans need to support him instead of booing him and chanting for him to be sacked. The players also need our support too! I think with the arrivals of Roger Johnson and O’Hara (perm) I think we’re still trying to mix as a team. I still believe we’re going to do really well this season, so stop the booing and get behind the lads and more importantly the manager!

Oh Dear
The facts are
1.Its a result business and they are pretty poor
2.M.M. has been given substantial investment 2 years on the trot
3.managers come and managers go but the fans remain constant and on the whole know what they are looking at for better or for worse
4.results and performances are increasingly dire despite investment
5.picking a fight with fans results in only 1 winner and it is generally not the manager
In summary M.M it might be better to take personal responsibility for some lamentable performances versus trying to apportion responsibility to supporters – they know what they see and support will be forthcoming if performances are up to speed.
Mr Morgan needs to think long and hard about the future direction of this football club on the field – it needs to be dispassionate and analytical with appropraite action to move the club forward – Championship football would be a disaster!

i like many other will not be going to molineux until mick has gone. why should i part with my hard earned money to watch a team who don’t seem to have been given any instructions other than hoof the ball up the field. i have followed wolves through thick and thin, which does include watching them in the lower divisions, but have never felt so down or disillusioned as i do now, we definatly are getting worse and not better. he may have got us promoted but we can no longer live on past glories, and to turn on the fans, who are hurting at their team losing and only certain players getting a luck in, does he not realise these fans are probably being ridiculed in their own workplaces about their team performances, beggars belief. i did have tickets for tomorrow night, which have now been returned, because if i can’t express a view at the game, they may start listening when people stay away, which when looking at the ticket availability for tomorrow nights game a lot of fans are. I have nothing against the players and always supported them during the game, because after all they look as bewildered as the fans most of the time at what they are being asked to do. please if you don’t do the honorable thing and go, try listening to other peoples views because it is patently obviuos what you are doing isn’t working is it, how many managers whose team are leaking 2-3 goals a game keep the same defense, or even goalie. Time for major changes in either the manager or if he stays in the playing personel

This is exactly what I wanted to hear!!!!!
The guy is under immense pressure,he is fully aware that his limitations of being a manager are being cruelly “EXPOSED”.
Luck as deserted him and he is intelligent enough to know that he as been found out.
Fans and others at the club now recognise Mick as major flaws not only has a human but more importantly has a “MANAGER”.
He is not earning his money he has been free loading for the last season and a half!
So it as all resulted in him being defensive has he knows its only a matter of weeks if that and he will be waving “GOODBYE”.
So why show respect to the fans of the club?
So why be honest in relation to how the team have performed?
All because he will stay till he is pushed or sacked either way he wants to free load as much has possible!!

It is stating the obvious by saying that the team has played bad over the last half a dozen matches. But to boo the players and chant for the sacking of the manager is bang out of order. I’ve been watching the Wolves since the early 1970′s, and whenever the supporters have turned against the team & manager, it’s had a negative effect. A partisan crowd will always make it that much more difficult for the opposition. Classic example, QPR V Chelsea last Sunday. I don’t like QPR or there fans, never have, but there fans did the club proud.

MM has dug his own grave, I think his days are numbered at Wolves and calling the fans idiots should speed up his firing, I feel MM has reached his level of incompetence. Johnston as captain before he played a game is an insult to Henry, however , if he played like a leader and earned his pay it would be accepted, now we are stuck with him and his contract. Martin O”Neill would be an excellent replacement, watching Wolves against Swansea was embarrassing, unless there are major changes this team will not survive the drop, don’t think I can take another season like the last one.

If you fans that pay your money are allowed an opinion then why isn’t the manager? I think its a complete disgrace that less than a quarter of the way into your 3rd successive premier league season you are treating the manager the way you are!
Do you really think the board gives a damn about what a group of ‘fans’ are saying and chanting during a game? That will not get McCarthy the sack, he will be sacked or kept in the job based on his ability as a manager, and to turn around a 2 goal defecite in that atmosphere that you ‘fans’ created deserves a hell of a lot of credit. His substitutions that were booed because he ‘didnt know what he was doing’ got you a point out of the game!!
Its sickening that supporters behave the way you did against swansea, it brings shame on the club you apparently love and it can only do harm to the result.

I query all this hysteria about wanting to ‘get rid of the manager’. I still think the outcry is about Mick not changing things when he should. He brings on Adlene Guedioura and he has an immediate impact on the game and his fellow team mates. What happens ? He’s back on the bench for the next game. As for calling those dissenting voices ‘mindless idiots’ all he’s going to do is alienate the fans even more. Just heard (again) he’s claiming the Kudos for getting us the point on Saturday……why didn’t he make the change earlier – we might just have won the game !! – and I still believe that we got that point because Swansea made the wrong changes – not wholly Mick making the changes. I honestly think that most fans appreciate what Mick HAS done, but not what Mick IS doing (or not doing as the case may be !!).
I don’t like the booing of the team & manager during a game but I do understand it.

The PR between club and supporters is a joke.
Morgan et al have to take McCarthy to one side and tell him to keep his gob shut. The same goes for the players, especially Johnson. Yes there is a minority of supporters who cross the line but as paying customers they are entitled to do that.
The team have been woeful at times this season and it’s not good enough. If fans want to boo let them, by winning games you’ll shut them up. The problem is Micks ego can’t take it.
To call the fans ‘mindless idiots’ is insulting and only puts a barrier between us all. He has created an us and them mentality and it’s shocking that the club allows this.
On Sat Mick was pleased for his staff and players, he didn’t mention the fans. How about the fans that support the team week in and week out who were behind the team despite another awful performance.

If it is correctly reported that the team manager of Wolverhampton Wanderers offered to physically fight with a supporter, then I am afraid he is responsible for bringing the game into disrepute and should be charged according to Football Association rules. If that comment was made as a threat to one and all dissenting fans then he is acting no less offensively. His alleged comments are outrageous and should be challenged.
Why is the CEO or the Chairman saying nothing ? May I suggest three reasons, firstly they know he is totally out of order and are trying to let things die down. Secondly they cannot take the action which should be taken, the minimum being suspension. AND thirdly, they are a little scared of getting Smacked.
Mr Johnstone, You are supposed to be playing in Billy Wrights Boots, show some respect. Right now you are not fit to clean His boots.

There is no defence for the sustained booing by fans, but then every club has their few that will do it. Every club.
Our problem is we have a manager and coach out of their depth and a team that is being found out even more because confidence is waning. MM’s comments are nothing more than mindless – he started all this bickering with his “numpty” comments about fans who are free to speak their mind on forums such as this. He doesn’t have to view them and certainly shouldn’t be commenting on their content. He has no respect for this club’s supporters and I am afraid his, and Johnson’s, handling of the press over the last few weeks is incomprehensible. It is time for Steve M to decide now – MM’s comments on Sky are unacceptable and the standard of football is unacceptable. Thanks for the last five years MM but you’re not the future.

Mick unfortunately I have to agree that your team selection has been perfunctory this season. We need at least one playmaker on the field who has some magic in his boots. A 25 yard goal out of nothing will lift spirits and get the others “playing with passion” (putting a shift in is what they did up north before Thatcher shut the mines) Our playmaker is called Milijas. How about putting him behind Doyle while we wait for fletch? How about calling up Zele Ismail to the bench? It’s time for him now.

Mick McCarthy has never had any affinity with Wolves, what we stand for, the history, or the fans. Mick cares about Mick and the chosen few who orbit around him. The thing is Mick you and your Captain both talk the talk but don’t walk the walk.

As manger it is MM’s duty to do absolutely everything possible to turn things around. Encouraging unity and not division should be high on his list of priorities.
The club should be on a PR offensive right now – not feeding debates about the manager’s future.

Some of the people on here frighten me – I’m almost relieved that I had to give up my season ticket if this is what it is like at Molineux now. Referring to a remark I read above about people leaving early, I wonder if some were leaving out of disgust with the crowd as much as the way Wolves were playing. Wow, what a dilemma.
I was at Wembley in 1980 at the age of 14 almost crying when Andy Gray scored the winner against Forest.
Many managers later I’m still here, loving the Wolves. But never have I faced the turmoil I feel right now.
I remember the last days of Graham Turner, Graham Taylor, Mark Mcgee, Colin Lee and Dave Jones. I had huge respect for those managers and the job that they had done for our club, but realised that they had gone as far as they could go. Many of those managers towards the end of their tenure at Molineux were subject to abuse from a certain section of fans, and while I thought that the abuse they suffered was unfair and unjustified, they obviously realised that it was part of the rough and tumble of being a football manager, they handled it with dignity and humility.
While I would never support the abuse of a manager and players, there is an argument that the measure of the man is how he handles it, McCarthy fails on every count.
I was gobsmacked when I read that he had called Wolves fans “Mindless idiots”
I now realise that we have a manager who thinks about himself only, a narcissist. He has complete disregard to how the team is doing, how the fans are feeling and his responsibility for the current state of affairs.
I will always love my club, but never have I despised a manager as much as I despise Mick McCarthy.
This is a different view from another blog.
You can always rely on Mick McCarthy to tell it like it is. The Wolves boss has slammed some of the club’s fans for failing to get behind his players in their 2-2 draw with Swansea City at Molineux on Saturday. And like his team, Mick’s got a point. There were a lot of Wolves fans who were ready to jump on the players’ backs at the first opportunity and they got their wish, with two first half goals from the away side. Cue mass booing. The Swansea players were rubbing their hands in delight, thinking they’d secured their first away win of the season with just 35 minutes on the clock.
Every team has these so-called supporters: the self righteous addlepates up on their high horses, who are probably secretly glad when their team fails because it will give them ample opportunity to vent their fury on the terraces. You’ll hear people say that they’ve paid their money so they’re entitled to express their opinions. Sorry guys, paying to watch football doesn’t give you a pass for being shit fans. The manager does not want you, the players do not want you and the proper supporters do not want you. Grimsby Town boss Rob Scott had it pretty much spot on: If you don’t like it don’t jolly well come.
When things aren’t going well on the pitch, of course the players and/or the manager has to take the blame. But the boo boys at Molineux need to hold their hands up for Swansea’s second goal at the weekend. Their whistling and jeering put the players on edge and definitely contributed to Joe Allen’s goal. But of course, the Wolves fans had paid their money, so why shouldn’t they kick their side’s already battered confidence into touch? No wonder the whole operation is crumbling with support like that. Those with the club’s best interests at heart would much rather have 15,000 fans there, all behind the team than a full house with half of them only there to offer their negativity to the cause. Mick McCarthy is dead right to offer no credit to the supporters Wolves’ fightback.
It is difficult not to feel an element of sympathy with the Wolves fans however. After all, they paid their hard earned money, stayed until the end, only to see Jamie O’Hara crack in a fine equalising goal and rob them of their chance to boo their side off at the final whistle. It is a shame being in the Premier League I suppose. Pop down to Home Park one afternoon if you ever need cheering up lads.
You can’t argue with that,I hope you are proud of yourselves.
oh and by the way Mick…NICE ONE!

Despite the money that TV has brought into the game, Mick and the silent Moxey and Morgan need to remember one very big fact: Without customers, businesses are NOTHING!
You never actively and publicly turn against your customers, and you certainly do not tell them they are mindless idiots.
Mick has always had a terrible relationship with the fans in my view, and this situation was always going to happen.
The simple fact is, we are not showing any progress from the past two seasons, and that is frustrating. So we pay our money, we dont get entertained and then the manager tells us we’re all idiots.
Maybe we are and we should stop contributing to his wages?

I remember a few years ago the Charlton fans claiming that Alan Curbishley had taken Charlton as far as he could and they needed someone else to take them to the next level. They were right the next few managers took them down to League one.
Wolves fans need to be careful what they wish for. There is absolutely no guarantee that a new manager would do any better. McCarthy has been a far better manager than Hoddle, Taylor, Lee and even Dave Jones.
Part of the reason he is angry with the fans is he feels that he is not getting the respect his success to date deserves. Admittedly they are struggling at the moment but there have been difficult patches in each of the last 2 years and they have come through it – he needs time to turn it round this season.
Having said that he HAS to start making changes to the defence and the system. Stubbornly persevering with the same team and 4-4-2 will not turn the current run around. Johnson and Berra have had enough time and are clearly not suited as a central defensive pair and we are in desperate need of a genuine right back (Doherty?).
It’s also time to abandon 4-4-2 and move to a 4-2-3-1 system which will far better suit the squad.
Jarvis is not performing to last season level and should be dropped. I would go with the following team against City:
Hennessy
Doherty
Johnson
Stearman
Ward
Henry
O’Hara
Milijas
Adele
Hammill
Doyle

The manager should concentrate a bit more on convincing us that he knows how to rid the team of its terrible defending (e.g. why is Berra now a regular when he couldn’t be trusted in the final matches last season?), prevent the midfield being overrun and solving the frequent lack of inspiration in the final third (the last goal on Saturday was a welcome exception in that respect) instead of attacking fans who are unable/unwilling to express their views in a diplomatic manner. Or are we to get used to what has been on display lately, leading to yet another desperate struggle against relegation?

One can only imagine the back biting and stabbing at Compton during the week. The lads must be scared stiff to voice an opinion and others dread going in each morning. If he fails to cope with the paying customers his attitude to his players and staff must be unbearable, especially those who do not agree with his doctrine or worse still feel they cannot perform to his infantile and naive instructions, of which I believe there are several with a far superior football brain than his. Just how many players has he been on the verge of thumping, it certainly appears by his attitude to be the final resort.
It all smacks of a divided dressing room which is becoming more evident by every match.
Mick is not a top 50 coach and certainly not a top 50 manager. I have assisted and helped one top coach achieve his goals to become one of our most respected managers and now in his sixties continues to contribute greatly to our countries game, still taking on new challenges. He continually finds a bewildering number of great youngsters, bringing them forward to top professionals. Believe me Mick is not in the running, to each his own but Mick’s luck got him into the premier, in this league luck is a word, he will not experience it again from this platform, he falls far short and knows it.
I’ve seen nothing come out of Compton, yet young clubs like Milton Keynes having already sold young Baldock to West Ham for over a million this season, now have his younger brother being heavily watched. And today Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal are pushing them towards two million for a 14 year old. Not one notable youngster has come out of Compton and the best at this moment Danny Batth will probably go for a pittance at Christmas and he is better than Johnston NOW ! It may surprise Wolves fans to see what a great job Gleeson is doing at MK.
I rest my case, sort out your package Mick and give your brain and your life a rest. Get yourself over to Florida or Arizona and get in some quality golf this Winter. “You Done OK But The Fat Lady Just Sang The Last Note”

The fans have to realise that Wolves will never have the resources of Man City, Villa or even Fulham, Al Fayed sold Harrods and became a Billionaire. Who ever the new manager will be eventually. He will have to cut his cloth accordingly. Mark Hughes and Martin O’Neil couldn’t hack it those clubs. Do you really think they could be successful at Wolves then?

MM is the best manager Wolves have had in the modern era. He will keep us up this season. Leave him alone and let him get on with it this season.
Assuming we do stay up, we should consider other possible options next summer. Unfortunately, progression in premiership is not only about team spirit, rugged play and putting a shift in. We do need to introduce some real quality and finesse into the team if we are going to improve.

How recent events have change my view regarding Roy Keane’s disagreement with Mick in their infamous world cup fall out.Always took the view rightly or wrongly that RK was totally to blame, but MM performance over the last week, leads me in no doubt that MM’s attitude creates a lot of problems, with anybody who voices a opinion which does not 100% concur with him.
Unfortunately for Mick, unlike RK,Wolves fans will not go away but they may stopping attending and paying their hard earned cash while in is charge.
MM should really note, that fans will only watch crap football if it is successful and unfortunately that in the premier league it is unlikely to prosper for more than a season. You have been lucky to survive so far and unless you adapt, which I doubt you could, the Wolves will go down.

Unfortunately a ground with 15,000 fans in the stadium will only result in Championship football.
The days of ‘real fans’ are long gone, I gave up my season ticket last season after 23 years, and I refused to slate the team, but in truth my loyalty was only one way. The players and managers of Wolves are just as fickle as the fans who boo. The only difference between them and ‘the mindless idiots’ is about £3million pounds a year in wages.
The players and managers of today are very happy to accept and even demand the very high salaries, so the least they can do is not whinge when they get booed after very poor performances!
If you think they deserve praise for scraping a point against Swansea at home in that manner, I would suggest that you are most definately a ‘happy clapper’.
Sad I agree, but true. Loyalty is dead, and the statement made by Mick was PR suicide. 15,000 real fans in a stadium fit for 35,000….sounds like Coventry all over again.

The thing is, this animosity towards the fans from Club Management is nothing new, I know for a fact (as I was there) that Dave Jones described Wolves fans as “dour f*****s” at an after-dinner speech many years ago whilst he was Manager, even BEFORE the promotion collapse later that very season. The only difference here is that MM has done it in a very public domain and it has been broadcast potentially to millions as opposed to a few hundred in a pub.
This whole sorry affair is a PR disaster and it is difficult to see where we go other than downwards from here, it would be one hell of a recovery to survive and prosper from it; for me it bares all of the hallmarks of the situation at Newcastle a few years back and that ended in relegation for them with arguably a far more talented squad than we have now . There is undoubted blame on both sides but I am not surprised MM reacted the way he did, he is an honest man and wears his heart on his sleeve and only reacted the way any of the “mindless idiots” would have reacted had the hatred and vitriol been directed towards them in such a public way as it was towards MM on Saturday. No man should be put through something like that and I’m glad he was proven right in the end. Should he have bitten his tongue, rode it out and brushed it off with dignity and not given it the air time he has? Probably, yes, that would have been better all round. But I can see where he’s coming from.
As frustrating as it is currently ALL FANS should get some perspective: whether you like it or not this is the best team and best situation the Club has been in for maybe two generations, it is just the sorry state of football these days that without either (a) being bankrolled by Sky or a billionaire sugar daddy, or (b) risking the Club’s future, then Clubs like Wolves can only realistically hope for mid-table Premiership struggle AT BEST, and we aren’t a million miles away from that are we?
More of this in-fighting and the “mindless idiots” will be digging out their A-Z’s of Coventry, Burnley and Watford again before you know it, and they will have got EXACTLY what they asked for and deserve.

I have always feared that Wolves so-called supporters would prevent the club from ever again estabishing itself as a major force. Some of the comments made on this site reveal just how little the perpetrators know about the game and how little they understand about the current situation. The pressure that they are now exerting can only be destructive. How many decent players will want to stay around for this treatment ? And how long will it take for Steve Morgan to become disillusioned and take his resources elswhere ? Fans have the right to express an opinion. They have no right to indulge in this sort of absolutely pointles abuse.
Friends of mine who support other clubs have all expressed absolute astonishment at the situation. Wolves supporters have long been seen as amongst the worst in the country. They now have no rivals for the title,I am ashamed to say.
Unless there can somehow be a significant backlash against these pea-brained yobs they will destroy all that has been achieved in the last five years.

Mick is accurate in his comment below (from BBC site)
“I’ve done a great job here. I came five years ago, there were only 10 players here and just a million quid to spend.
“Five years on, we are in our third year in the Premier League and building the new stadium – but we are having a tough time.
“Come on, give the lads a bit of support. Don’t be giving us aggravation. I think they have short memories.”
Maybe it is the distance that gives me a different perspective compared to when i was able to get to games every week, but I have to agree with Mick and say that the reaction last week was over the top. Why such aggressive abuse at Mick. Frustration, maybe, given the current run, but the guy has achieved more than any other manager in my lifetime at this club (i’m 35), and in a changed footballing world where breaking into the top division, let alone getting established, is harder than it was 35 years ago. If the losing streak persists, then ultimately, yes, Mick will be responsible and there may come a time when he needs to go, but given the abuse from last weekend (and i know well how fickle and abuse the vocal minority in the Molineux can be) i don’t think ‘idiocy’ is too strong a word

I take great exception to MM calling me and the rest of the supporters MINDLESS IDIOTS and previously NUMPTIES. This just typifies how arrogant and self opinionated he is.
The fans were not booing the team they were booing him but he doesn’t see it this way.
He tries to claim the draw as a result of his substitutions, funny I said 5 games ago The mid-field should be MILIJAS, GUEDIOURA and O’HARA.
I would also like to say that as a mindless idiot I would not have kept the same four players at the back when they conceded 2 goals before half time. Why has he done nothing about that?
MM you are a disgrace to make these rude and offencesive remarks it is a good job you have never worked in the real world.

223-The point McCarthy was making, not very diplomatically i’ll grant you, is that the kind of atmosphere at Molineux last weekend doesn’t help.
As you seem to be quite proud in admitting you were one of the booers….. i’d be grateful if you could just explain, what good you actually thought you were doing for the team ? in what way you were helping the team by heaping more pressure on an already bad situation ?
I don’t want the standard answer of, “i pay my money, i say what i like”, i want to know, we all want Wolves to succeed, how does booing the team/manager/board help during a game ?

For the last 2 Seasons. Fans roll up to the “easy” games and sit down, show no support and expect us to win. Same again Saturday. Swansea out sang our support. They were far louder and must have been surprised at the poor atmosphere……
Can I add there are no easy games in this league.
Liverpool 1-1 Norwich
QPR 1-0 Chelsea
Arsenal poor start.
Bolton cant pick up a win.
Fulham can’t get going…
WAKE UP!!!!!!! it aint the championship.!!!
The stadium is quiet for the “easy” games and after a good start and few chances the fans become a little frustrated that we aren’t winning. This then transfers to the pitch and makes the players nervous and make mistakes.
Now when we play a top 6 club there is a completely different atmosphere, the fans arrive in good voice and are united. We Boo the opposition. Make teams nervous and give our players real belief and fighting spirit. Then come away with great performances against good teams. We help!!!!! Lets stop making excuses and get behind the team. Look at Stoke, battled hard for 4 seasons playing below average football but with a true fighting spirit and mentality. Pullis is in the same breed as McCarthy. Arrogant, stubborn but installs fighting spirit into the team. they are in Europe and attracting big name palyers. Lets turn molineux into a fortress like Stoke and stop booing our manager and players.
We were languishing in the championship with the worst side we had for years when McCarthy took over. Now we are near established Prem team.
But every home game needs to have the atmosphere of ManU, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City. Lets get behind. Boooo every touch of the oppositon, make it intimdating for them not us. You bunch of idiots. We can play good football. and yes he has made mistakes and the defence does look below what we expect but unsettling team isnt going to help.
Get behind em.!!!

Mick probably shouldn’t have said what he did but as I’ve seen said before, how well would any of us work if 10,000 people were screaming how useless we were at our job! I’ve played the game at a low level but even there when someone keeps yelling how c**p you are it puts you off.
Encourage through the game and then complain after Micks not going to make changes during a game because of the fans and yes fans do have the right to voice an opinion.
Lets be realistic about things, unless a foreign billionaire (and I mean billionaire, not someone with a few millions) comes in Wolves will never again win the league. Then along with the likes of Fulham, Newcastle, Stoke, even Villa, plus various others we will have to be content with fighting for a top ten finish. Maybe with luck in the future 5th place could be in reach.
We can never afford top class players not simply because of the fees but with wages of £200k we can’t afford to pay them.
One final point how many were demanding we buy Johnson and are now complaining how bad he is??

So MM is taking the credit for the comeback on Saturday. Lets get something straight, the two players that made the big difference on saturday were the two players that we have all been screeming for over the past weeks. Why wait until the game had nearly finished. If has was so clever why did he not sub earlier.
By the way Hennesey saved us getting thrashed and Swansea sat back and let us back into the game.
From now on lets hope that the form players get picked and we can move on.

Fair play to him defending himself if he had a case, but just look at the defence, look at the unshaking loyalty to players whoa ren’t good enough, look at the money spent. we should have said “thanks very much for all you’ve done” after the promotion season, the writing was on the cards even then. The defending was so bad we only really stayed in the promotion spaces because Reading and Brum were so bad too. If that team had been in the current Championship it’d be bottom half.

213. Not a happy clapper. Im a realist i support wolves not man utd, so expected to be where we are without any major team investment in the summer.
Im definitely not happy with a point at home to swansea.I think we are lacking our fight that sometimes gets us going on the pitch.. and we are not getting among teams any more.
Confidence looks shot.
I think we fans need to hold our nerves a few more weeks tho before pressing the panic button.
I think the increasing majority now want shut of mick, but will want us to have a manager like mourinho (and some no doubt think he would come). because they are not realists.

Its not nice being verbally abused by the fans, just ask Steve Kean at Blackburn. But every manager knows the backlash that they are likely to suffer from sections of fans when things go wrong, and should regard it as an occupational hazard. The Fans pay the entrance fee’s and are entitled to their opinion, if the manager can’t stand the heat then he should get out of the kitchen, as you can bet your bottom dollar there will be plenty of other out of work managers ready and willing to step into MM’s shoes. Incidently swearing back at the fans only inflames the situation even more. The players should also clam up and do their talking on the pitch.

NO, NO, NO…you are paying for access into Molineux or the away stadium. You have no right to influence the manager’s decisions. It’s his ‘train set’ and it’s up to him and his staff how it’s run. He does not deserve to be treated the way he has been. He would not come into your place of work and get any satisfaction from booing you for not giving the performance he wanted. Grow up. 186 – That’s an interesting, passion-filled post you provided, Johnwolf. I don’t know who typed it, but I have to agree with the author’s underlying message that booing and getting on players and manager’s backs is not to be welcomed. Save your grievances until the final whistle, please, lads. During the 90 mins, back your club by singing your hearts out. If you can’t feel motivated to do that, then say nothing. Even total silence is preferable to abuse.
At the foot of your post, Johnwolf, I noticed that you said, “You can’t argue with that”. Actually, I tend to disagree, and here’s why:
You see, I’m a little bemused by the author’s apparent lack of lateral thinking in certain areas of his script. I’m not being rude here -I’m just genuinely mystified. Take this for example:
“Their whistling and jeering put the players on edge and definitely contributed to Joe Allen’s goal”
‘Definitely contributed’? A highly questionable statement. Whilst I agree that booing does not help the team’s cause, the word ‘definitely’ is presented as some sort of statement of fact -which it certainly isn’t. It’s a mere assumption only. Goals conceded are a combination of human error, good play by the opposition and -let’s face it- pure ‘luck’ at times. Besides, let’s remember that Wolves haven’t been adept at defending for a very long time. Remember, too, they were conceding goals for fun BEFORE that awful game against Swansea. A two-goal deficit before half-time has been the norm of late, not the exception.
The author then proceeded to overlook something that, to my mind, was glaringly obvious. Regarding Wolves unexpected comeback to force a draw, the author sarcastically says:
“It is difficult not to feel an element of sympathy with the Wolves fans, however. After all, they paid their hard earned money, stayed until the end, only to see Jamie O’Hara crack in a fine equalising goal and rob them of their chance to boo their side off at the final whistle”.
I’d make two observations on the above:
Firstly, I accept that many of those angry fans probably felt ‘robbed’ of the opportunity to vent their spleen. Speaking for myself, though, I was very thankful for the equaliser -even if it didn’t excuse the shambolic fare we’d witnessed beforehand.
Secondly, the author is fatally flawed, unfortunately, when it comes to applying his own logic where the undesirable effects of booing the team are concerned. You see, it appears that the foul Molineux atmosphere ‘definitely contributed’ to the goal(s) which Wolves conceded but NOT, it seems, to the goal(s) we actually scored.
Now, that’s odd. I mean, if the players were so badly affected by the crowd that it directly led to the concession of that second goal, then how come the boys at the other end of the park weren’t as equally affected as their defensive counterparts? On the contrary, they took their chances and bagged two goals.
Conclusion? Booing affects defensive players only, lol!
Seriously though, the author can’t have it both ways because pure logic dictates that the vile atmosphere should have affected ALL players in ALL areas of the pitch -not only one. To think otherwise is nonsensical.
Finally, I note the author says:
“When things aren’t going well on the pitch, of course the players and/or the manager has to take the blame”.
Good. So, we’re all agreed that the product on offer is directly the responsibility of those employed at the club. The problem is, while the author says that the manager “HAS to take the blame”, he doesn’t actually suggest ways in which blame can be relayed to him.
So, the irony here (and try not to laugh) is that the time-honoured way in which fans send their ‘messages of blame’ is by vocally expressing it.
In other words, booing. Yes, booing.
Unfortunately, that’s the very thing that the author just denounced, of course. So, we’ve got a slight problem there, then!
Joking aside, the author’s comments are, for the most part, laudable. I genuinely do understand what he’s trying to say. However, let’s also not forget the responsibility that our manager and players carry. Yes, the responsibility to us, the fans. It’s NOT a one-way street where blame is the sole preserve of frustrated fans. Their reactions may, at times, be fiery, but it’s fuelled by passion.
So, I may not -and never have been- be a ‘boo-boy’, but I certainly understand where they’re coming from. Even Jody Craddock now does, apparently…
