Wolves offered Michael Johnson loan
Tuesday 26th July 2011, 11:00AM BST.
Wolves have been offered Manchester City’s Michael Johnson as well as Liverpool’s Jay Spearing as boss Mick McCarthy intensifies his search for a midfielder.
Johnson, who was linked with the club in January, has been offered to Wolves on loan as the 23-year-old seeks to rebuild his career after long-term injury.
As exclusively reported in the Express & Star last Wednesday, tough-tackling Spearing is also on the Molineux radar as the Reds look to broaden the 22-year-old’s experience and ease a logjam of midfielders at Anfield.
But McCarthy, who had free agent Thomas Hitzlsperger at Molineux for talks on Thursday, is assessing his options at the moment.
It has also emerged that McCarthy pulled the plug on Wolves’ move for left-back Lee Wallace, who joined Glasgow Rangers for £1.5million from Hearts last week.
Wolves had a deal in place to sign the Scotland international for as little as £900,000, but the manager backed off because he wasn’t convinced the 23-year-old was better than George Elokobi or Stephen Ward.

That last paragraph is a pretty damning verdict on one of Scotland’s brightest prospects!!
Providing he’s fit Johnson is a very exciting player with a lot of flare and certainly worth a loan spell. There are players in our squad that should be making way for Spearing as albeit he’s 5’2″ he would still be a quality addition. I’m certain McCarthy knows what he’s doing regarding left back and hopefully over the next few days something will come to light….It needs too!
That’s a kick in the teeth for Wallace and Scottish football!!!!
Not as good as ELOKOBI!?!
He is a rugby player/boxer, not a footballer!
Unlucky ROD.
Magic Johnson over ‘der hammer’ every time.
So the best left back in Scotland is good enough for Rangers but we won’t spend a million cos Ward is better ????
This don’t ring true – there is something seriously wrong at the club if these details are correct.
If we start the season with no new LB we have wasted our money buying Johnson cos we will get slaughtered on the wings……
Report abuse
Good move Mick over Wallace.
It has been a long time since a Scottish player was good enough for the PL and we all know the SPL is at best equivalent to our Championship, so we don’t need another player who needs time to make the grade.
Signing PL experienced players is what’s needed and there are plenty going begging, just a matter of the price!
On the subject of Johnson, how fit is he and would he be available for transfer if we wanted him, otherwise we will be getting him fit only to return him to City for them to sell him on elsewhere.- Not good business!
Very nice of these clubs to “offer” these players to us, if they are so good why are they not getting the chance at there parent clubs?
Johnson is coming back from a big injury so will need half a season to bed back in & although spearing is looking like a good talent he is very raw & unproven so will either of them really be the answer?
We need solid prem performers in centre mid (the most important position IMO) why didnt we go in for reo coker? hefty wages maybe but…. good age and no transfer fee!
I think we run risk of standing still without new LB & replacing Henry!
Id take both those 2 on load to be fair.
As for Wallace not better than George……….hmmmm if thats true then obviously dont bother but has Scottish football declined that much?? lol
Report abuse
At this rate, we’ll have enough midfielders to play a 0-10-0 formation.
Good to see that Mick is spending quality pre-season time worrying about his players’ social networking habits too…
Report abuse
Hhhmmm, I dunno! Never was keen on seeing long-term injury victims pull on a Gold shirt, least of all when they aint fully paid-up Wolves members, unlike our own (unfortunate)Matty Murray. Seen too many crocks over the years, I guess.
A mere £900,000 wanted for Wallace, yet Mick’s pulled the plug because he doesn’t rate him as better than Elokobi or Ward? Can’t understand why Mick was even remotely interested in looking at him in the first place then. After all, Mick’s always said he only wants better than he’s already got.
“Wolves had a deal in place to sign the Scotland international for as little as £900,000, but the manager backed off because he wasn’t convinced the 23-year-old was better than George Elokobi or Stephen Ward.”
Why would there even be a bid, let alone one in place, if the manager thought the guy wasn’t any better than Ward or Elokobi? This seems to sum up the clubs scouting/management snafu, which brought us the likes of Maerhoffer, Van Damme, Mayoukolo etc “Here boss, these guys are worth throwing silly money at” or is it “buy that player now, see if he’s any good later”
#1 That is a pretty damning verdict on the Wolves manager’s ability to identify a player. It begs the questions a) did he ever watch Wallace play and b) what, exactly, does he want from a left back? The latter question is, of course, easy to answer. According to MM, a left back need not have much football ability but must be called either Ward or Elokobi.
No 1 couldn’t have put it better myself. lol
If your not planning to invest heavily in the team, then let some of the young lads coming through fight for a place. Some of them have good loan spells under their belts. With quality wide players, we need more creativity in midfield than tough tackling, with AG out for a bit O’Hara is our only major creative outlet for Jarvo and Kights, Hammil, to do damage from the wings.
I have to say this doesnt look good on the boss/management. Like Tonto says, why did we go to all the effort of agreeing a deal if he’s no better??
Whats happend to Cueller? has he gone to Rangers yet? i think he is good value at a couple of million, better then berra.
I’d love to know where that last paragraph came from, did McCarthy really pull the plug because of that or was it the extra money Rangers were willing to bid that sealed the deal?
I would much prefer premier league experience to someone whos fitness is doubtful, as we already have enough crocked midfielders!
Good thing about Wallace, if it means we’ll then spend decent money on a quality left back.
If it means we’re stuck with Ward and Elokobi, then Micks lack of judgement might come back to haunt us.
ALSO, Why another winger? hunt, Javis, kightly and hammil are surely enough with Edwards and foley also able to cover. and Fletcher last season come to think of it. A defensive midfielder yes, but after a LB and CB.
A fit michael johnson and ohara in the middle of the park??? 18 months ago i think wolves fans would only of imagined this in our dreams?
Gotta be worth a punt? We need to ship out some of the dead wood though even on lower price deals to get them off the wage bill.
I still think (as does everyone) a left back is a must.
So, let’s imagine us signing Wallace, and he proves to be no good. Result? You lot get on Mick’s back yet again. How many times have you seen Wallace? Nor me, apart from a brief substitute appearance for Rangers against Hearts last Saturday. I bet Mick has seen a lot more of him than you or I, and has decided he won’t make it in the Prem. (Also he has just returned from long-term injury. Last thing we want is to spend money, and have the kid go out long-term again.) (I can only imagine how that would be greeted on here.)
As for Johnson or Hitzelspeger, I would take either if fully fit. Johnson has to prove his fitness, but a loan-move would solve the worry on that, as we would not have to continue paying out if he broke down again. If he works out, we may even pick him for a modest fee, as Man City will still be overloaded with midfielders.

“Wolves had a deal in place to sign the Scotland international for as little as £900,000, but the manager backed off because he wasn’t convinced the 23-year-old was better than George Elokobi or Stephen Ward.”
Highlights MM’s problem at LB. Everybody knows we need strengthening there, but there are few actual solutions available. Bridge cost and earns silly money and can’t even hold down a first-team place. Elokobi and Ward actually have two seasons experience of Premier League survival, so a guaranteed, experienced improvement will be expensive – if available. Add to that the ‘young with potential for improvement’ requirement and MM’s plight is pretty clear.
Arsenal have been linked with a number of LBs since Clichy’s departure, maybe we should be talking to them about Gibbs on loan (either that or take a look at the players they have been linked with but not bought!).
Hey ‘Tonto’ (7) would that be the same scouting/management that bought us Doyle, Fletcher,O’Hara,Jarvis,Guedioura,Johnson etc.
Perhaps you and the rest of the ‘numpties’ on here don’t appreciate the progress that Wolves have made under MM. You could try Walsall…It’s only just down the road. They would give you something to get your ‘expertise’into.
I have seen Wallace play he has not the skill of Ward or the pace of Elokobi.Would not make it the prem
Report abuse
This is what’s called RUNNING ON THE KNIFE EDGE or better still SHORT TIME THINKING. If Johnson, O’Hara and Fletcher or Doyle get injured then we are in the same boat as last season. If Wolves are to make progress next season then at least four or five more new players need to be brought in including a LB, CD, Midfielder and another striker. Mick wants to hang around for another five years, if I was in his position a would insist that the additions mentioned above would be a minimum requirement. Stop being short-sighted, take us to a new level, the fans deserve it.
I would agree with Mick on the Wallace deal,as at this present time he has joined a team playing in a very ordinary league where he will look good every week!! There is a country mile in Football quality from the SPL to the EPL.look how long it has taken Berra to adjust,he was fantastic at Hearts and in the championship but has struggled in the Premier League! Enough said. Johnson and O’Hara,England internationals, thats quality! I still think that Mick has a good signing at left back in the wings and i will trust his judgment.

Johnson is class but we are over run with midfielders now. Get rid of Karl and give the armband to Roger.

If it is true we could have signed him for as little as £900K then it looks like we have missed out on a bargain bearing in mind he eventually went to Rangers for £1.5M.

I’m pleased to see that we’re prepared to pull the plug on players who aren’t good enough. This is better than signing them, realising they’re not good enough and then never playing them. Well done Mick for doing the right thing.
Yes we do need a left back, but George isn’t as disastrous as some people seem to suggest. I was glad he was on the pitch when he popped up with an important goal at the end of last season.
All in all things are looking good and still likely to get better before the season kicks off.
Come on the Wolves.

Johnson, Spearing and O’Hara in midfield and then perm three from Fletcher, Jarvis, Doyle, Hunt, Hammill and Kightley depending on fitness and form.
Doesn’t sound bad does it?

Please go and ‘support’ somebody else, your opinions are not wanted and not important. You clearly have no idea how a football club is run or indeed how business is conducted at the highest level. Too many people think it is easy to be in the shoes of the three M’s, it is so easy to critisise the management, but could you do a better job, seriously? Any supporter who has lived through the 80′s and to a certain degree the 90′s will appreciate the full effect of bad leadership and management. Any true Wolves fan can see just how well the club is being run, and we currently have the strongest squad of players the club has had in 30 years. If the fit isnt right, the player doesn’t sign, simple. have you personally been to see Lee Wallace play, have you personally assessed his statistics and compared him to our own players? I suspect not. So please, go back to your day job, so procrastinating and leave the football to the professionals.
I’m not convinced that it’s good idea to have players from the top six on loan unless we have the option of buying them – as in the case of O’Hara.
Otherwise we are simply acting as a means of reccuperation for other clubs who will ultimately get the benefit.
If Johnson or Spearing are being offered on the basis of an option buy at the end of the loan period, then I think either would be a good signing.
As regards Wallace, there is no point in buying someone just for sake it. After two seasons in the Premiership we should only buying quality players who are better than what we’ve got. If none can be found or not available, I’d rather stick with what we have and look again in January.
Rather than worrying about who’s a better left back, consider the possibility that Wolves have progressed to the point that the likes of Spearing, Johnson and Hitzlperger (all fine players)are linked. Also forget past mistakes in the transfer market, focus on Fletcher, O’Hara, Doyle, Jarvis, Johnson, Hamill, Hunt, Foley and the new keeper from Swansea. All very good players.
A LB will no doubt come….have a bit of faith.
Not sure about this one. Johnson has played few games in the past two and a half years, due to his injury problems. Obviously he needs a loan to rebuild his career, but should that be us? If he is now up and running, then fair enough.
Think the E&S are trying to make a story to fill the column inches – that is unless the paper has added Darren Brown or David Blain to the journalist talent to mind read MM.
Need to buy a quality LB before the start of the season and the 2 loan deals for positions elsewhere can be agreed closer to the deadline date. A new LB is inevitable but the timing of the purchase crucial.

I think Mick not being convinced Wallace is better than Elokobi or Ward but good enough for Rangers says more about Scottish football and Rangers problems than it does about a young defender who is nothing more than a good prospect – we don’t need a good prospect at left back we need a good left back.
Rangers and Celtic would be nothing more than above average Championship teams if they played in England – please see the “success” of one Kenny Miller. Did not see a procession of Premiership clubs after him when he jumped ship

Johnson, Spearing or Hitzlberger would all improve our central midfield options and that is needed due to Guedioura and Edwards and their injury problems.
Who has said that we had a bid of £900k for Wallace in place and that O’Hara cost £3.5m or Johnson just over £4m? None of this has been confirmed. The manager has been linked with a few left backs and apparently Stephen Carr at the weekend, so I am fairly certain they know what they require!

no doubt all the doubters above would have paid over the odds for Mills, Johnson and O’Hara as well, in which case our tranfers dealings would have doubled in cost for this summer. Ey oop, numpties.
I see this report has right proper got a few of you in a fair old lather.
Let’s set the record straight! Wallace v G-Unit? I thought it possible that he’d be able to push for G-Unit’s place but once I did me homework on Championship Manager, right shift that was an all, Wallace’s graft percentage was no where near G-Unit’s. The plug was pulled.
Mind thee, I am getting right proper excited about all these midfield grafters being offered to us. I’ll have to check with Jezza first just to make sure like, but right proper excited, me. I’ve said it before, you can never have enough midfield grafters warming the bench.
This Johnson looks like he could fit the bill perfectly, bit injury prone mind, but on Champ Manager it says when he ain’t he can put in a decent shift.
To top it all, he’s got the same name as that basketball fella, an all. Now he put a fair old shift in, right proper. Goes to follow the same name must have same graft ethic. Hang on, that was Michael Jordan, oh well, half the same name, still gotta be a decent grafter surely.
Sign him up Jezza.

Agree with most on here that a CB and LB is required. Ideally a CM and ST too?
For me, Ward, Elokobi and Henry have to make way this season as they are not good enough to take us to the next level.
I’d look a Cuellar from Villa, Upson and Ridgewell as possible incoming defenders.
I’m not convinced by Johnson (injury prone), Spearing or Hitzlesperger. I don’t think they are better than Milijas or Guedioura.
I also think we have players suited to a 4-3-3 next season as we’re still not good enough to play 4-4-2 , if we don’t improve the defence.

12. You mentioned Jarvo and Kights? on the wings. Kightly has only played reserves and a pre season 60 mins. OK he had a good game at Walsall – I was there. I thought Wallace might not be good enough, after all Berra was highly recommended but he isn’t exactly a class act either is he? All Berra seemed to want to do is exchange shirts with the opposition forwards, nothing wrong with that I hear you say! Well no, but I’d prefer it if he waited till after the final whistle had gone. Spearing would be a great loan signing IMO, he can play in our midfield in his own right and also he would be excellent cover for O’Hara should he get injured or suspended. Not sure about Johnson though, if he was still any good then surely he would have been snapped up by a premiership club by now.
Bit worrying that we still haven’t had any offers for our surplus to requirements players i.e. Keogh, the Hoff, Vokes and even Edwards if it comes to that, hope some Championship clubs start panic buying come mid to late August, then we might see some movement.

Regarding Lee Wallace lets not forget we had Chalie Mulgrew in The Championship who couldn’t get into the squad and he went back to Scotland soon got a move to Celtic, the standard there is so poor. Jack Mc Namara was the exception.
If Michael Johnson is fit get him on loan over Spearing and Hitz on a free. Could be wrose we could be getting Championship and League 1 players like Albion!

Left-back filled by a new face or not, patchwork by committee in that position…who really knows? All I care about is team unity and improvement in our playing staff. I trust Mck to get the most out of his playing staff, and specifically, in this instance, big George and Wardy! These two players come under so much peculiar, over the top criticism, and yet they contribute at key and essential points in every season, like many others in the squad, only to be maligned like no others? One or both are about to have a solid break-through year. I am no horse trader by any means, but I would bet, because I have seen this many times before, on one or both of these players surprising the hard to please punters this year coming, one or both raising thei games. In a few months it could be “what left-back problem?” UTMW!

I am happy as the proverbial pig in ‘stuff’ with the way OUR club is being run by the 3 M’s, it has to be the most exciting time to be a Wolves Fan in a generation or two with developments on and off the pitch.
We all want to be pushing on to top 10, top 6, top 4…but lets just ensure we dont get carried away with ourselves. I dont want to go back to the state we were in in the 80′s and dont want to end up like Pompey, Leeds, et al who overeached chasing the dream and ended up in the same stuff as the proverbial pig…In the 3 M’s i trust…
HOWEVER, i think 98% of those supporters who watch Wolves Reguarly home and away will be disappointed if we dont get a LB in. No disrespect to either Ward or George, (Both run through a wall for Wolves if you asked them) but if you could merge them together into one player you’d have what we need, a strong, quick LB who has a keen footballing brain and quality on the ball. Im sure Mick knows this and hopefully he has someone lined up.
Wallace? Liam Ridgwell all the way, at 26/27 younger than Roger Johnson and will already have a good understanding anyway.
£3m for a player who is based locally and has bucket fulls of Premier League experience, chips in with the odd goal and is far superior to our current left backs, is a snip and I reckon Wolves are in for him.
Now for my wet dream, Moxey pulls off his next coup by snaring Scott Parker on loan for the season as everyone else wants to buy him. Solves our “holding midfield” and “goals from midfield” problems in one swoop.
I don’t think left back is that big a priority. Elokobi improved the more games he played last season – granted he is nowhere near the finished article, but our club ethos is about finding unpolished gems and developing them. McCarthy has built a proven track record of doing this at our club, and I for one am very proud of it (Jarvis, Foley, Kightly, Edwards, Henry to name but a few). I’m happy for George to keeping developing next season in our first team.
Centre-back was the priority and Johnson will hopefully prove a sound acquisition. I’d still like another centre-back as if he gets injured/suspended then we are left with last season’s options. Bassong on loan from Spurs would compliment Johnson well in my opinion. I also have a feeling Berra will come back stronger this season after a poor ending to last season, where he was deservedly dropped.
Not that fussed about Michael Johnson – he had half a decent season about 3 years ago under Eriksson but has barely played since.

We have to keep Henry. It’s down to him and his leadership that we’re in the position we’re in now… the English Premier League! Take Johnson OR Spearing as back up. We need a first choice LB but we could easily manage with the squad we presently have. Onwards and upwards.

51-Wolfhound. Do you realise how dumb that sounds? Football is a results based business. To believe that ANY manager would deliberately refuse to buy better than what he has, just to play favourites, beggars belief. Your ilk used to say the same about Keogh. Where is he now? You said the same about Neil Collins. Is he still starting for Wolves. Once we get a new left-back, who will you pick on next? You will have to have someone. Doyle? Jarvis? Fletcher? O’ Hara?
Don’t let you dislike of Mick get in the way of facts though. Why do you think he bought Jelle Van Damme last season? He thought he was better than Ward and Elokobi. It turned out that he could not overcome home-sickness.

I’ve had a confusing day so far, and the report above hasn’t helped!
Why go that far down the line for Wallace if all along there were doubts over his ability viz a viz players already with the club?
As for taking on a player who has been long-term injured I’m not sure that’s wise unless its a ‘pay as you play’ deal.
Which leaves Spearing about whom I know very little and about whom I get mixed views from my friendly Liverpool mates. From what they say, he wouldn’t be much good if high balls were regularly coming in from the left …!
I’m glad O’Hara and Johnson signed, I did understand those deals, but since then I’ve given to hoping reporting errors are the order of the day.
The season will soon be upon us and I refuse to let my enthusiasm be dented …. after all, who said we needed a left back …. or another centre back ….? ;)

Don’t think the £10 million (with wages) or so spent to date is going to push us into doing a Portsmouth, Leeds…. I know the club is run really well but the ambition of Mr Morgan is questionable. We are getting a new stadium and training facility but then again isn’t Morgan in the building game so a busmans holiday for himself.
How can West Ham now make bids of £5.5 million for one player after being near bankrupt and then being relegated. Thats a statement of intent straight off while our own statement to date is more of the same please – relegation dog fight. I would definately rather see M Johnson than Spearing – on his skill and speed etc, however, the injury side could be a concern. On that basis, IMO I think we should look more at getting in Hitzlesperger. Saying that, any of those 3 in our midfield would be an excellent addition.

completely agree with Mick, Premier League is a different ball game to the SPL, and from what I’ve seen of Wallace, he wouldnt cut it in the PL. Elokobi makes the odd mistake yes, but he’s also chipped in with vital goals and put in some pretty sold performances, some of the Wolves fans on here clearly dont go to games.Would definitely take Johnson and Spearing on loan as well, would add some much needed energy.

Just finished laughing i hope that last bit was worded wrong ? Still think we should try and sign Danny Rose from Spurs on a season long loan for the left back spot.Dont think the lad from Liverpool wants the move and Johnson is a good player but dont think we would see the best of him till around december time cus of injuries and fitness but worth a gamble on a loan deal still hope we sign the german the hammer would be a great free signing also thought we should have had ago at signing Reo Cocker up the Wolves

Lot’s of opinions on the Wallace situation. Here’s mine.
He will have been identified by the scouts and no doubt Mick will have searched the tapes of him in action for Hearts and Scotland. Maybe Mick had his injections and sneaked across the border and had a look at him in one of Hearts’ friendlies. Decided he wasn’t the real deal and called a halt to Jez doing his bit. He’s the professional.
To what levels have Scottish Football sunk ?
Loaded with second rate Eastern Europeans and Scandinavians. What’s happened to all the classic CBs they used to produce ? When the next Dave McKay, Jim Baxter, Denis Law or Kenny Dalglish going to turn up? They shouldn’t worry about making up a GB Olympic team, it certainly won’t harm their World Cup dreams.
71 Soggy Wolf. Talking of dreams. Am a bit worried about you having a wet dream involving Jez Moxey. I should get some professional help.

80 – Ukrainian Cossack
Perhaps you should do just that, switch off and go and watch some of the dross that is served up at Walsall, Birmingham or even Wigan!
The further away from Molineux you are, the better I think sunshine.
Au Revoir!

27 – phil dicken spot on mate, yes GE makes mistakes but he also makes good challenges. The PL will be slightly easier this year despite what clubs will say to the press. It will be another tough year but we will be stronger in the fact we’ve had 2 seasons behind us and added to that. A left back will come, its obvious Micks looking because we’re being linked with LB’s. Wolves are moving forward and long it may continue. UTW

You’re Joking – Since when have Rangers been the benchmark for the level of player we should be looking at? Lets face it, The likes of Rangers and Celtic would struggle to even survive in this league with the players they have. Apparently Rangers were interested in Berra who many beleive isnt good enough for this league. I dont know if The lad would have been good enough for the prem, but then again, neither does anyone yet, and considering we were looking at him in the first place shows that Mick highlighted a left back, so hopefully hes looking at more experienced premier league options who would be less of a risk.

All the final para is really saying is that McCarthy thinks Scotland’s LB is no better than ROI’s LB, which is surely fair comment?
I’m given to wondering whether MM actually sees LB as a ‘priority’ position anymore, as most manager’s concerns are to see competition and cover in all positions.
So I don’t think the hunt for a goalscoring midfielder (cover for O’Hara, assuming Milijas has now been deemed a lost cause), or a ball winner (the obvious) is at all misguided.
The other 2 areas where we lack a really viable option are cover for Foley at RB, and for Doyle, given the latter’s style of play.

have to agree with points by 11 and 80.
The same fans who are agreeing with Mick pulling the plug on this deal are the same ones who were saying 3 weeks ago what a great player this guy was and berating others for questioning Mick judgement.
Whats it strikes me as again is Mick trying to get quantity over quality.Well maybe in central europe, central america you can get a cheap quality player(like guediora), but scottish football? Any fan will tell you that the standard of football in scotland is poor and so are many of the players.
Dont forget Mick signed Griffiths from scotland in January and wants to sent him out on loan. He never played a single game!
Now if Mick had just signed konchesky…..

Perhaps we should tell Manchester City that we will take Super Crock Johnson if they throw in Tevez for good measure. Is Wolverhampton nearer to South America than Manchester ?
Perhaps Carlos might be better than what we have already got.

77.. Johnson was made numerous U-21 appearances, and was one of the up and coming midfielders for the Sr. squad. FOOL.

Blimey, Wallace must be pretty rubbish then, thank god we didn’t sign him! Still desperately need a left back (Ridgewell) though, and a CENTRAL DEFENDER, (Bassong) BEFORE we bring in a midfielder. Only then will I be confident of 14th place or higher.
And looking back on this i think we can take something away from it. At least the need for a LB has been highlighted by Merlin and maybe Wallace wasn’t the quality we need. If we can get ridgewell, warnock, danny rose or something along those lines then it will be better than stumping up £1m for Wallace.lets all just sit back and wait for the transfer window deadline day and then look back and think what if?! Lol

Onoucha, Bassong or Dann permanently or on loan and Ridgewell. Make Johnson Captian.

Did you know that older numpties are often neglected when it comes to getting a mention on here, there’s a need for true fans to ensure they’re respectfully treated their performance on here is particularly poor and will deteriorate before the whistle blows to commence the new season, finaly one or two have jumped into the SOLENT. STICK WITH MICK

In mick we trust!!!
He will come good. remember signing O’hara at the very end of January? and he also made the right decision in not brining back Robbie Keane to the club! he never rushes and makes sure that the deal is right, If we were going to loan Johnson perhaps it would be better to wait until January to prove his fitness. The prospect of Hitzlesperger is appealing but he did have a pretty horrid time at West Ham. Mid table finish this season!!! As much as I love G-unit I think he is too inconsistant to warrent a first team place and so I do expect a new signing!
