Adam Hammill makes vow to Wolves

Wolves winger Adam Hammill has admitted he has something to prove this season after being told to become more of a team player.

The 23-year-old wide man made 10 Premier League appearances after being signed for £500,000 from Barnsley in January.

But the England under-21 international, who was the stand-out performer in the first half of Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Notts County, lost his place after quieter games against Villa and Newcastle.

Manager Mick McCarthy opted for the extra experience of Adlene Guedioura, Michael Kightly and Kevin Foley in the wide right berth.

And Hammill now believes has it all to do again this term.

The Liverpool-born flanker said: “On a personal basis I have got something to prove.

“I want to be a hit in the Premier League by making goals and scoring goals for Wolves to push us up the table.

“I enjoyed the time I played last season but I’ve learned it’s not all about attacking play – it’s about having a team ethic and working for the team.

“I spoke to the gaffer and he praised me for the things I did well but he said I need to become a lot more consistent.

“There are things I need to work on to cement my place in the team.

“There’s a long way to go and a lot of hard work ahead, but I’m looking forward to the challenge of trying to get into the side.”
