Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards faces a race against time to be fit for Saturday's clash at Manchester City.

Edwards, who scored the winner against City at Molineux in October, is still battling the hamstring injury that forced him off in the 2-2 draw against Doncaster in the FA Cup last Saturday.

"I could have perhaps given it a little bit longer at Doncaster but I didn't want to risk it," said Edwards.

"It may have been a bit of fatigue after the exertions of Chelsea and I just picked up a little tweak of my hamstring, but it's not a bad one.

"Hopefully I'll be fine for the weekend or, if not, definitely for the next game. I'm hoping to get back in training before Saturday, and, with a bit of luck I'll be available."

Edwards is desperate to be a part of it against a big team again after scoring against City and playing a full part in the 1-0 win over champions Chelsea.

"We've got some nice memories from the home game with Man City and it would be great to do the double over them," he said. "But we know how difficult that is going to be."

Edwards believes Wolves have learned lessons playing against bigger opposition.

"I think we've maybe learned how to play the big teams a bit better from last season. We don't have any fear against the big teams."
