Wolves boss Mick McCarthy today vowed to carry on being bright and bold at Fulham to maintain their unbeaten start to the season, writes Tim Nash.

McCarthy's side return to action after the two-week international break looking to extend their solid start which has seen them topple Stoke and draw against Everton and Newcastle in bruising encounters.

The Molineux chief believes his side can continue their impressive form at Fulham as they kick off back-to-back trips to London with Tottenham to follow.

"When we played there last season we were in a different position, scrapping for points to make sure we stayed in the league," said the boss.

"We still want points. If we come back with a point from Fulham I'll be delighted with it. But if you ask me will we be setting up to sit back and defend, that won't be the case.

"I don't see any reason why we shouldn't feel we can get points anywhere. We had it last season when our away record was good and we'd like to maintain that.

"We're new into the season, but maybe playing with a bit more ambition, both of us.

"Our fans expect us to stay up - and rightly so based on what they saw last season and how we've started this season."

McCarthy also vowed to fight fire with fire after his side were criticised for being too physical in their last two games.

"If Newcastle had come here and let us knock it about, we'd have knocked it about as well," he said.

"But they came here and put a foot in."

"Look at Jody Craddock's eye with four or five stitches in it and a bandage around his head, but I'm not bothered about that.

"That's the way it is because we have dentists who can put their teeth back in, doctors who will straighten their noses and put stitches in them.

"That's my view on it and they all know that."

Wolves are without Ronald Zubar, who injured a hamstring in training yesterday.

Deadline loan signing Marcus Bent is in the squad for the first time.
