Three-quarters of voters in an online Express & Star poll welcomed a potential new deal for the Welshman, while just one-in-four said they had had enough of his style of football.

After keeping the Baggies up for a second successive season, the 58-year-old is in line to receive an extension on his current £2million-a-year contract which expires in the summer of 2017.

The deal will be thrashed out this summer in a meeting with chairman Jeremy Peace, while the pair also discuss their long-term plans for the club.

The relationship between head coach and chairman is strong at the moment, and Albion have reached 40 points with seven games left in the season.

Peace sees Pulis – who has famously never been relegated – as a safe pair of hands who guarantees Premier League status.

His pragmatic approach to games has divided fans all season, but according to our poll, the majority are pleased that Pulis's reign at The Hawthorns looks set to continue.

The former Stoke boss raised question marks over his long-term future at the club back in February after the disappointing defeat away at Reading in the FA Cup.

But an impressive run of form after that kept Albion safe for another season, and now Pulis is looking to stay in the Black Country.

He was ordered to repay £3.5 million by the Premier League in a dispute with former club Crystal Palace, and he knows he's unlikely to get a better deal elsewhere than the one he's got with the Baggies.

However, Pulis has come under heavy criticism from some sections of the Albion crowd for a perceived negative style of football.

Albion haven't had a shot on target in seven of their Premier League games this season, and the Welshman knows he will have to change aspects of his style to placate the fans.

Both Saido Berahino and Stephane Sessegnon are likely to be leaving The Hawthorns this summer, while James Morrison could also be making an exit with his contract coming to an end.

Pulis is planning a major reshuffle of his attack, and Peace will reward the Baggies boss for keeping the club up by freeing up some TV money for transfers.
