The 22-year-old swas brilliant in the 3-2 win at the Hawthorns, helping set up one goal and scoring another.

Berahino said: "I put my hand up and blame myself, my standard dropped but I'm not looking to the past anymore, I want to do my best for the team and contribute with the goals.

"A lot has happened in the past and I just want to put that behind me and finish the season strong."

Berahino apologised to the fans for last summer's deadline day tweet earlier this week, and the fans were singing his name at The Hawthorns today.

Both he and Salomon Rondon were superb up front together, and Berahino felt they really clicked for the first time.

He said: "Second half they came at us but we stood our ground and got the three points we needed.

"We all worked hard on the training pitch this week and I thought all the boys stuck together after Reading where we were disappointed.

"We started clicking after getting the goals and the fans were brilliant. We've been working hard on the training ground.

"We have not clicked as much as we would have liked to but today it came off and especially for the first goal.

"It was great to get the three points we needed and, hopefully, we can get three points against Leicester City next."
