The 22-year-old attacking midfielder is highly rated at White Hart Lane and signed a new four-year contract at the club last August.

But a long-term ankle injury has restricted him to just one appearance this season for Mauricio Pochettino's team.

Burnley and Middlesbrough were also interested in the diminutive midfielder but the lure of Premier League football managed to sway Pritchard's mind.

Prichard said:"It's been a hectic few hours - I was close to going elsewhere - but when this came about I didn't hesitate to come here," said Pritchard.

"I'm here and excited to get going.

"I spoke to Tony Pulis and coaches and was told to do my best, work hard and make an impression.

"I'm an attacking player, I like to get on the ball, make things happen and have an eye for goal.

"I can play on the wing or centrally - it's a dream to play in the Premier League and I hope I get that chance."

Dave Kemp, joint Albion assistant head coach, is looking forward to working with the player.

"We're delighted to have him here - he's a bright young player," said Kemp.

"He's had a couple of loans at Swindon and Brentford and done very well.

"He's 22 now and he's ready the make an impact in the Premier League.

"I saw a lot of him at Swindon and Brentford - he's a good young player and we are looking forward to integrating him."

The England U21 international has been on loan to Peterborough United and Swindon Town in the past.

He spent last season on loan at Brentford, where he scored 12 times in 45 Championship games.

Albion are in desperate need of a creative midfielder with James Morrison out injured with a ruptured hamstring.

The Scottish international picked up the injury away at Chelsea in mid-January and is expected to be out for at least another month.

The deal suggests the frosty relationship between Spurs and Albion after last summer's transfer deadline day saga with Saido Berahino has now thawed.

The Baggies have already brought Brazilian midfielder Sandro in on loan from QPR this January, and Arsenal loanee Serge Gnabry has now gone back to North London after the clubs finally agreed the terms of his recall.

However, it is understood the club do not expect to do any more business today.

They are still adamant they are not going to sell striker Saido Berahino in this window, and it would take an outrageous offer to sway chairman Jeremy Peace's mind.
