Albion left-back Sebastien Pocognoli is still up for sale despite his impressive performance at Bristol City in the FA Cup.

Making just his third appearance under Tony Pulis, the Belgian replaced an injured Chris Brunt.

But the Baggies boss prefers playing Jonny Evans at left-back when Brunt is unavailable and he is still trying to off-load Pocognoli this January.

"There's nine days to go (in this transfer window) so we'll see," said Pulis.

"Poc did OK considering he hasn't played for a while, I thought he came in and did alright. He's desperate to play football, we understand that."

Brunt's hamstring problem is expected to sideline him for today's derby with Villa, but Pulis said: "Jonny Evans has played left-back and played exceptionally well.

"We've played Jonny away from home and he was most probably the best player on the pitch so we have to move it around to what we think is best for the team, not individuals.

"I try and pick the team that I think is the right team to win."

A couple of Championship clubs have shown an interest in Pocognoli, but there is no deal imminent.

However, Albion's current injury problem does offer him a glimmer of hope.

"Him, (Cristian) Gamboa are the ones that have to come into the group, it's their opportunity, their chance now," said Pulis.
