Saido Berahino back in West Brom running

West Brom boss Tony Pulis insists striker Saido Berahino has done his bit in training this week and has a 'great' chance of playing against Stoke City.

The 22-year-old has reportedly been turning up late to training sessions and team meetings in the past few weeks.

Those indiscretions caused Pulis to lambast last season's top scorer before Monday's game against Newcastle, saying he was 'lucky' to make the bench.

But the public dressing-down appears to have rejuvenated Albion's young forward - for now at least.

Pulis said: "That's all done and dusted, we've moved on from that. The kid came on and did really well for 30 minutes and he's got a great chance of playing on Saturday.

"It's got nothing to do with anybody apart from me and Saido. That was last week. He's trained well this week, he's been in on time and he's done everything that everyone else has done.

"He just lapses, its not because he's a bad lad or anything. It's just the way he is, it's just him growing up and recognising it's about the group and about the team, and the football club."

The January transfer window opens tomorrow and speculation over Berahino's future at the club continues to mount.

When Pulis was asked if he'd like to keep the young striker at the Hawthorns, he said: "It's the window, so everybody's talking about his future again.

"I was asked that question two windows ago and I told you exactly the same. The club would love to keep him.

"It's like selling a house, if someone comes and makes an offer too good to turn down, it's too good to turn down, but three parties have to agree."

Yesterday, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger revealed he's planning to be busy in the January transfer window, but money is a bit more restricted at Albion.

Pulis said: "I'm not Arsene Wenger. We'll have to move one or two out before we can move one or two in. I think everybody would like to strengthen, including Arsene.

"There's certain areas that need to be improved, but they'll be determined by if we do lose one or two players."

Victor Anichebe and Jonas Olsson both went off with injury during the 1-0 victory over the Magpies, and Pulis is going to wait until the last possible moment to decide whether they'll be fit for Saturday.

The Welshman said: "Victor and Jonas will be late calls. We're not sure, we'll give them as much time as we possibly can to see if they're fit.

"At the moment, we're still not 100 per cent sure whether it will be a yes or a no."
