Salomon Rondon a big hit with Albion

West Brom boss Tony Pulis has hailed the contribution of striker Salomon Rondon ahead of his team's big Premier League home clash with Everton tonight.

Rondon became the Baggies' record signing when he moved from Zenit St Petersburg for £12million last month.

Since then he has found the net once in six league and cup games, scoring the winner in the team's 1-0 victory at Stoke City.

Pulis believes the forward is unlucky not to have more to his name following a string of bright performances, but added that he has brought more to the club than just an eye for goal.

He said: "Salomon has been fantastic. Every game we've played he could have scored a goal or two and has been very unfortunate not to.

"His movement is good, but so is his attitude. He's another one who has come into the club whose attitude is fantastic.

"He's really taken to it and the players have taken to him and again that's something you look at as a manager.

"Already he's got tremendous respect in the dressing room not only for his ability but the way he conducts himself.

"He's got all the attributes. He's quick, can get down the sides of people, he is good at holding the ball up and is good in the air.

"We're just hoping he gets a bit more luck in front of goal, but it doesn't seem to affect him."

Rondon earned plenty of credit for the impressive shift he put in in last weekend's derby victory against Villa, albeit without finding the net himself.

And Pulis said: "He's definitely a team player. He was so pleased we'd won the game irrespective of whether the chances are dropping for him or not, which is lovely."

Fellow Albion hitman Saido Berahino struck the winner in that game, in a match which saw the pair start up front together for the first time.
