The Baggies' record signing, whose £10m from Dynamo Kiev was sanctioned after a work permit appeal, says the Premier League must maintain a healthy balance between home-grown players and foreign stars.

Dyke wants tighter restrictions to ensure more English youngsters get chances in the top flight.

Speaking at a Kick It Out workshop at Bristnall Hall Academy in Oldbury, Ideye said: "I feel bad about it because there are a lot of talented players outside the UK who want to come to the Premier League to play football

"The Premier League is where people want to play and want to be so it's a bit sad that things like this come up.

"But I guess they know what is good and they are doing the right thing for them.

"I think making the team is what is important and here you get foreigners and English players mixed together to get good teams.

"That is good and I think it should be 50-50."

Meanwhile, Ideye has revealed more details of his bizarre run-in with a Baggies-mad parking warden in Birmingham city centre on Monday.

The striker was given a parking ticket despite being recognised by the warden and asked to pose for a picture.

He said: "It was strange.

"I went to the Mailbox to grab a coffee, came out and saw a guy giving me a ticket.

"As soon as he saw me he just started screaming and everybody just started looking and I asked him what he was doing.

"He said he would have to give me a ticket but first of all we had to take a picture.

"I took a selfie with him then he handed me the ticket and started screaming 'you're a great player, I really like you, I'm a big West Brom fan, blah, blah, blah.

"But I still have to pay the ticket!

"I was a bit annoyed but I just laughed about it because of the way he started screaming."
